Father sat in his chair under central, the white pieces of a chess board in front of him. Greed sat on the opposite side of the board, rubbing his chin as he stared at the game. Father had played chess with both of his previous children. Pride had been a little confused his first game, but he practiced and had improved since then. Lust wasn't as good as Pride and Father, but she was good. She could win sometimes. Still, those two were getting predictable and they must think the same thing consider how fast their games went. It was good to have Greed now.
Speaking of, Greed made his move. He'd put one of his knights in danger. Father slid his bishop over, taking it.
"You can't do that," Greed said.
Odd. Father thought he knew the rules. "I can actually. You see-"
Greed continued before Father could explain why it was perfectly legal move. "That was my piece. Mine."
Oh. That was Greed's problem. "Yes, and now I have taken it."
"You can't take what's mine! I want everything!" Greed shouted, flinging his arms up.
It was going to be a long game if Greed kept this up. "The rules of the game say I can take it, and I will," Father said firmly.
The two glared at each other for a moment. Greed broke that moment.
"Screw you old man!" Greed flipped the chess board over, sending pieces everywhere. He scooped up as many as he could, both black and white. "These are my possessions now!"
Father watched Greed run towards his room, weighing the pros and cons of going after him. In the end, Father decided he'd just get replacement pieces, and hopefully he'd have more sane children. Greed was not going to be a good chess partner.
