An Unusual Morning
Splinter woke at his usual hour expecting the lair to be peaceful as it always was at the hour he chose to awaken. His sons typically would not start getting up for an hour or so, thus one could understand his surprise when he smelled fresh brewed tea and food cooking as he woke.
"What is happening?" he wondered stepping out of his room to see his sons awake and in the kitchen.
"Good morning, sensei," Leonardo said politely.
Splinter quirked an eyebrow, they were acting as if this was normal, and it was far from normal to see Michelangelo up at this hour of the morning and not whining about it was an unheard of event. Splinter knelt in front of his door setting his walking stick by his side. A few moments later Donatello approached him with a cup of tea and politely presented it to him.
"Thank you my son, but what has brought this on?" Splinter asked still very confused by the behavior of his sons.
"Come to the kitchen and you'll see," Don said.
Splinter followed his son into the kitchen area and to the table where the boys had set out breakfast.
"Happy father's day, Master Splinter!" Raphael smiled.
That was the moment things began to make sense.
"You did not have to do this for me," Splinter said completely overwhelmed by the gesture of sheer love and respect his sons had set before him.
"Yes we did," Leo said, "You have done so much for us over the years we just thought we should return the favor and do something nice for you to show our gratitude."
"Yeah we've been a bunch of chuckle-heads at times and yet you kept believin' in us and we just wanted to show you that we appreciated you bein there for us." Raphael said.
"Thank you my sons." Splinter said with a smile
He then sat down to enjoy the generous gift his sons placed in front of him.
The End.
A/N: this has to be one of the shortest things I've ever posted up here. I really hoped you enjoyed this tiny oneshot, I know I probably could have fleshed it out a bit more but for a quick drabble I think it's a pretty good piece. I just really want to know what you think. Pls review and note that any and all flames will be redirected at the first hurricane I see in the Gulf of Mexico!
