You know, I have a boat load of stories to be working on and still I continue typing up new chapters for new stories. My new obsession this time is... dun dun dun dun! FUSION FALL!
I fell in love with Fusion Fall quite a while ago and truth be told, I prefer the old version rather than the new one. The one where the PC (Player Character) is sent to the future because of Dexter's time experience and lands in a world that has nearly been consumed by Fuse and Planet Fusion. Anyways, don't expect this story to be updated too much.
So, here I go!
Disclaimer: I don't own Fusion Fall. I do, however, own my characters whose names you will learn in the story.
Chapter One
Allison scowled as she walked down the street trying to find the address written down on the piece of paper her sister had given to her. It had taken her an hour to get to this part of town by bus and she had been walking for fifteen minutes trying to find the damned place that her sister told her to go to. Easier said than done considering that all the houses on the block had the same boring american white fence house look to it.
Today, Jillian was supposed to have gone to a classmate's house because she had volunteered to be a subject for his experiment.
His time travel experiment.
When her sister told her about this the night before, Allison had fallen out of her seat laughing until Jillian had glared at her. Allison instantly shut up as her sister was not only a genius, but she also knew how to get back at other people who got her mad. Allison should know; she had suffered Jillian's vengeance several times.
Unfortunately, the day before the experiment, Jillian's cold over the week had gotten worse. By orders of their mother, she was forbidden to leave her room much less the house, even if it was for school related activities so she would have no choice but to cancel and schedule the experiment for another day. But Jillian didn't feel like disappointing her friend and fellow enthusiast because he had been looking forward to this day for a long time and instead had the brilliant idea of having Allison going in her place.
With the two of them being twins, those who didn't know them that well would be unable to tell the difference if they decided to dress up as each other and take the respective other's place. Like during a school test or a position on a team. Unfortunately, it didn't really work out well as Jillian specialized in being a braniac but was semi-okay in concerns to her athleticism while Allison tended to excel in sports and was an average student when it came to grades.
So while doing each others' tests or taking their place in an athletic test or something similar was a bad idea, they could still do a twin switch in more subtle ways. In this case, it was Allison participating in an experiment in her sister's place.
Allison tried to back out since she knew this was likely end up in having to talk about science, one of her worst subjects ever, but Jillian said that her friend had already worked everything out so all she had to do was convince the guy who built the contraption that she was her sister and go into said contraption and see if the thing worked. If it did, it would cause quite a stir in the science community since time travel was considered near impossible by most scientists today.
So Allison decided to suck up her grievances and get the whole deal over with. All Jillian wanted Allison to do was masquerade as her, participate in the stupid experiment, and then describe what had happened during the entire process.
Also, Jillian said she would do Allison's chores for a week if she went.
That pretty much clinched it for her since Allison hated doing her chores, so she spent yesterday and the entire morning getting as much info out of her sister as she could. She already knew how to act like her sister, so she didn't need to worry about her acting skills. But she did have to learn about the guy who she was supposed to meet for the experiment. The only thing she knew about him was what was known amongst the student body.
His name was Dexter and even though he was thirteen and supposed to be in his last year of junior high school, he skipped two grades and was in his sophomore year at the high school instead. It was rumoured that if he wanted, he could attend an ivy league university such as Stanford. But instead he just decided to skip ahead two grades and attend high school like a normal student. While he did relatively well in most of his classes, anything that could be associated with science in any form was his specialty.
Jillian was apparently his only friend as his very intellectual mind put others off and the average students saw him as being standoffish and a teacher's pet because his IQ was practically off the charts and he was always amazing the teachers with it. But Jillian was also smart, so she was one of the few who could hold a conversation with him.
After memorizing what her sister knew about Dexter, Allison had to get ready to leave. Fortunately, her twin had never been to the boy genius' house so if she got lost, he wouldn't get suspicious and think something was off.
What felt like an eternity later, Allison finally found the house she was looking for. Checking the address to make sure that she wasn't knocking on the wrong door, she pressed the door bell and waited for someone to answer. A few minutes later, the door opened to reveal a red haired with yellow rubber gloves wearing a white apron over her clothes.
"You must be Dexter's friend from school!" The woman exclaimed before Allison could open her mouth and introduce herself as her sister.
"That's right!" Allison nodded as she put on her best Jillian impression. "I'm Jillian Campbell!"
For the most part, Allison just had to act really cheerful and enthusiastic. Since Jillian had never met Dexter's mother before, it was easy to deceive her into believing that she was Jillian. But because Dexter and her sister had been friends since the start of the school year, it was going to be a little harder in deceiving him. Especially considering that he happened to be a genius. Her sister said that when all else failed, she should just smile and nod and pretend she knew what he was talking about if he decided to get really scientific.
That's what she did when he started rambling.
The woman who was likely Dexter's mom quickly ushered her in and then called her son's name from the bottom of the stairs, yelling that his friend was had arrived.
"Tell her to come up!" He shouted back.
Saying good-bye to Dexter's mom, she went up the stairs and into the room his mother had directed her towards. Before Allison could knock on the door, it was pulled open.
Standing in front of her was a red haired boy in a white lab coat with dark pants and dark shoes. When he reached up to adjust his square glasses, she noted that he was wearing purple gloves. He was lacking in the height department, but considering that he was thirteen and hadn't hit puberty yet, that was understandable.
His choice outfit screamed 'science nerd' but it looked pretty good on him. Allison wondered if Jillian had a crush on him since Dexter did fall under her choice of types of boys she would consider going out with.
"Jillian! You are finally here!" He said as he stepped to the side, allowing Allison to walk into the room.
Dexter's room was ridiculously neat, even more so than Jillian's which was saying something. It was clean and organized to the point of being anal retentive.
"Wow Dexter, this room is even clean than J- my room!" Allison amended her mistake so quickly that most people wouldn't notice. But she saw Dexter raise an eyebrow and she smiled sheepishly, hoping that he didn't notice her slip up in nearly blowing both her and her sister's cover.
He chuckled. "Well, I have my cleaning bots clean my room everyday so naturally there isn't a single thing out of place."
Allison nodded and Dexter turned away as he walked towards a tall shelf. He pulled down a picture frame so that it was lying on the shelf bottom face flat. For a moment nothing happened and then the entire shelf slid to the side to reveal what could only be a hidden room.
The girl's jaw dropped and her eyes went as wide as saucers. Seeing Dexter's amused gaze on her, she quickly pulled herself together and said, "Wow."
"This is leads to my laboratory. Follow me." Dexter said curtly as he started his descent towards the secret lair.
Still speechless at what could be described as a scene right out of a sci-fi novel, Allison followed the boy. He led her through his lab, though he had to stop several times for Allison to catch up as she kept being distracted by the different types of technology that surrounded them. She was definitely telling her sister about this when she got back. It was likely her sister didn't know about this since she didn't mention anything about a secret lab being behind her friend's bookshelf.
They soon stopped in front of what looked like a huge round object made out of metal. If the lab and what was inside the lab had her stunned speechless, then the object that was a few feet away from them had her brain scrambling to try and form cohorent thoughts again due to her reasoning and logic being completely thrown out of the window thanks to what she had seen in the course of a few minutes. Geez, Dexter deserved his title of genius and then some.
"Ah... agh... guh." Allison clamped her mouth shut before she could make an even bigger idiot of herself. "Wow, Dexter. I'm... I have no idea what to say."
Words could not describe what she was thinking at the moment.
Dexter smirked at her and then walked over and handed Allison what looked like a really advanced watch.
"Here. You'll need this." He said.
"What is it?" Allison asked as she slapped it on her wrist and made sure that it was secured on tightly.
"It's a communicator. I will tell you what you will need it for once you are in the time capsule's chamber." He made a gesture towards the sphere-like machine and Allison took that as a sign for her to go inside.
'Time Capsule?' Allison thought. 'I thought it was a time MACHINE. Or is that pretty much the same thing?'
Stepping close to it, the time capsule's door slid to the side, allowing her entrance into the invention. Allison went inside and the door quickly slid shut behind her. She was submerged into complete darkness until something blinked in front of her and she was staring at some sort of screen that was displaying a holographic image of Dexter and some sort of robot lady.
"Jillian, can you hear me in there?" The holographic Dexter asked.
"Loud and clear." Allison shouted and seeing the boy wince, she realized that there was no need for her to yell. "Oops. Sorry about that."
"It's fine. You just confirmed that communication from inside the chamber has been established." He turned away from her and by the movements of his hands and fingers on screen, she guessed that he was typing on a computer or something.
"I'm going to need you to input your profile into the system before we begin. Stand by and I'll bring it up on your monitor."
Some sort of information chart appeared in front of her and hearing a click, she looked down and saw that a keyboard had appeared in front of her. Looking back up, she saw that she was supposed to type in her information.
Name: Jillian (actually, it's Allison but she was masquerading as her sister) Campbell
Gender: Female (duh!)
Age: 15
Hair colour/ Length: Auburn/ Just past the shoulders
Eye colour: Brown
Height: 5'4
Weight: 118 lb (Allison really hoped her sister wouldn't kill her for this)
Allison was able to complete the chart in a few minutes and as soon as she was finished, she hit the enter key and it disappeared from view. Dexter's and the robot lady's holoforms showed up on the screen again to replace it.
"Excellent." Dexter said, nodding at the chart that she had just filled out. "Bioscan is complete. Let's make sure your communicator is functioning."
Allison had nearly forgotten about the watch like device strapped on her arm.
Dexter's robot assistant spoke for the first time. "All communication systems are functional, Dexter. I will be able to reconnect with the volunteer upon arrival in the future."
"Affirmative. All right, I'm starting the main engine now. You may feel a little bump." Before he could activate the time capsule, Allison asked him a question.
"Exactly how far into the future am I going?" Because Allison did not want to end up a year into the future. She imagined coming home after a year long absence with the excuse that she had been travelling through time and the whole thing for her had been a few minutes. She had no idea how well her parents would take that, but she estimated that she would be grounded until she was thirty. "Because it would suck- I mean be horrible if you sent me ten years into the future."
Could she and Jillian really be considered twins any more if that happened?
"Only two hours. Don't worry, I'll have my mother call your parents if necessary."
Seeing that she was satisfied and had no more questions for him, Dexter pressed the button that turned on the time capsule. The chamber Allison was in started to shake as the machine started up.
Allison heard giggling and then a third person on the screen popped into view. It was a teenage girl who was either her age or a bit older with blond hair in twin pig tails. She was wearing a pink ballerina outfit and seemed to find something about this amusing. She had a mischievous look on her face and as Allison opened her mouth to ask her what she was doing, the girl raised a finger to her lips and hushed her so she wouldn't alert Dexter and the robot lady to her presence.
Blinking, Allison only watched as the disappeared from view. What was she up to? Did she just want to see the experiment as well?
"Er... Dexter?" She said hesitantly.
But the boy either couldn't hear her or didn't acknowledge her because he was busy making sure that the experiment would go smoothly.
"Wow, are you seeing these readings?" He said, looking at her with child like excitement. "A fine day for science indeed!"
"That's nice." Allison said quickly. "But-"
She was cut off by Dexter saying, "Prepare for launch. Three. Two. One..."
"Ooh," A fourth voice, even though Allison could only see Dexter and his assistant from the screen, said. "What does this button do?"
And then a click.
Oh.
God.
The worst words that could ever be uttered in the vicinity of an invention that could blow up in your face and kill you.
Realizing for the first time that there was a fourth person there with them, Dexter's head snapped to the side to see who it was. His eyes widened with horror and he ran off screen to try and intercept the owner of the voice.
"Dee Dee, no...!"
The chamber started shaking violently and before Allison could ask Dexter what in hell was going on, one particularly violent tremor sent her flying back into the wall and she hit her head against it hard. She managed to remain conscious despite the pain and crawled on her stomach towards the door before hearing a loud crash that came from around her.
The loud screeching noise that followed after it made her wince. Despite her attempts to block the noise, it was so high pitched and unbearable that Allison finally passed out from the pain forming in her head. The last thing she saw was the time capsule's screen turning black and flashing with the words 'System Overload' and 'Error'. A bright light engulfed her unconscious form and she disappeared from the chamber.

"Computress, what happened? Is Jillian okay?" Dexter asked as he got back to the computer controls after telling his sister to get out of the lab. For once, his sister did just that when she saw her brother truly angry at her for once because not only did she destroy his invention, she also endangered the person inside.
Dexter tried to connect to the screen to see if his friend was alright inside the capsule, but to no avail. His latest and possibly greatest invention was smoking and he could only fear the worst for his friend.
Being a robot who was programmed to be the perfect assistant, Computress was not at all frantic or concerned about what had just happened like her creator was. She connected to the time capsule's systems to try and determine the status of the volunteer.
"Unconfirmed. The subject is no longer inside the time capsule."
Dexter felt his heart elate that Jillian had not died and then drop when he realized that Computress did not know where she was.
"What?" He said in a hoarse voice.
Computress continued. "She has been sent much further into the future than you intended. Three years to be exact. The year 2012."
Dexter pressed his face into his hands and didn't utter a word. He would later learn that things would only get worse from the day his experiment went wrong and that sending the girl into the future would turn out to be humanity's last remaining hope for the fight for planet Earth.
Whoo, it took a while to start typing this out but once I started I found myself unable to stop.
At the second part, featuring Dexter, he calls Allison 'Jillian' because he didn't know that Jillian sent her twin in her place. Yet.
Anyways, hope you guys enjoy this and please review!
