"Damn it, I shouldn't even be here. I should've told that bloody French wanker to shove it!" Arthur growled as he crossed his arms waiting at the nice little restaurant that France had mentioned. He had been waiting for his blind date to arrive and she was exactly 2 minutes and 35 seconds wait. He was too punctual to have a late girlfriend to begin with!
Suddenly a young beautiful lady with wild (h/c) hair done up in a half assed bun, was looking around for something. Yet her hair looked kind of hot in a childish messy kind of way. Thinking this had to be the woman; he stood and waved her over. The lady saw him and started to relax as she came up and took a seat.
"Thank goodness I found you! I've been looking around for this restaurant for like forever! So, you can call me _, nice to meet you Artie."
"Hello milady, how be you this morning?" He winced at his nickname.
"Um, fine I guess. Man Francis was right, you are a strange guy." You grinned, "So what about you Artie?" Shrugs casually and spoke again, "What do you do for a living?"
"I um…I am a man of much importance."
"Um, cool, I work as a house cleaner. It's kind of an on an off job. Like a bread and butter type job you know?"
He nodded, "I understand."
"I live with my two older half sisters."
"I live with my widower father."
"Oh, I'm so sorry Artie."
"I too give you my condolences about your parents."
"Oh no, they're fine. Both of my moms and my dad, they kicked me out because I'm not punctual. But hey it's like whatever you know? I mean I like to live life on the brighter livelier side, you know?"
"No, frankly I do not."
"Eh, that's okay. So yeah I was like telling my buddies Francis and Alfred that you were like totally not my type. But hey I decided to give you a chance anyhow."
Arthur tweaked his lips in irritation at this saucy young woman. How dare she be so forward! Doesn't she know how to be more subtle?
A waiter came up and asked, "What can I get such a lovely couple?"
"We're not a-," Arthur began.
"My hubby and I would like to share the rib I steak with the side order of veggies, baked potatoes, one large Dr. Pepper and a rose tea please."
The waiter nodded and left.
Arthur glared, "Excuse me? First of all what was that about me being your 'hubby' and two whoever said I wanted that meal with you?" He hissed silently.
You shrunk a bit in your seat, "Oh…I'm sorry, I should've asked. I figured it would fill us both up and this way you could seem like a nice guy by buying a nice expensive meal without buying two pricey meals." You felt really bad that you made him buy the meal.
Arthur sighed, as he thought it over. She did have a point, however rash she may be. Then he took a closer look at her. She was wearing makeup that made her look full in the face and a hoodie that was baggy.
"_, are you…Do you get enough to eat at home?"
"Yeah of course, I eat like a pig, I mean not like the mannerisms of a pig but you know what I mean." You laughed.
"Yes, I think I'm beginning too." He replied.
The conversation went on like this for hours. That evening Arthur was on the phone with Francis, "Blast it Francis! I don't need any more random blind dates!...Of course she's pretty!...That doesn't matter, she's an insufferable, incorrigible woman that is saucy and unpunctual and I can't stand her!...No not a minute more!...She told you she wanted to see me again?...Yes, I'm free next Thursday but…Oh confound it Francis!" Arthur growled slamming the phone down.
Arthur grabbed his coat and went out for a walk. Trudged through the murky streets, he saw the young girl _ through a window. Two women were snapping at her. He wished he could help, but that was family business. There was nothing he could do.
The next week Alfred was having a Halloween party. Everyone was dressed up in random costumes and there was this one girl dressed as a Victorian masquerade lady. "Hello milady, may I say you do look ravishing." You giggled but decided its best not to tell him who you were…at least not yet. You guys were able to talk without his bitterness getting in the way and you both found that despite your differences there was something there that brought you guys together in a way that was close and filled with intimate emotions. Then at 11:55 a couple of girls in angel and devil outfits came in. "Oh crap, what time is it?" You ask Arthur. "It's five minutes till midnight what's wrong?"
"Um, nothing, I'm just…I'm not supposed to be here! Bye!" You whispered hurriedly, kissing his cheek, not realizing you dropped a diamond hairpin.
Arthur picked it up and pocketed the item. He would take it to the Lost and Found part of the police station.
The next day he went to the station and heard a voice asking desperately, "Please you have to have it; it's a vintage diamond hairpin. My grandmother gave me it."
"Sorry ma'am."
You flopped into a chair and began to cry into your hands. Arthur couldn't catch your face, but walked over to you, "Is this it miss?" He asked holding out the hairpin.
You looked up and saw it. "It is! Thanks- Artie!"
"_!" He said in shock. He then grinned, "_, there's something I have to tell you. I love you. Would you marry me?"
"Yes." You smiled.
"Good, then I can tell you I'm the prince of England."
Months later, you were married to Arthur and became a princess.
The End
