A Different Endgame
Summary: What if in Scorpion the Borg cube that scanned Voyager decided to assimilate it.

Author's Note: Just a twisted thought I had as I was watching Scorpion.
Harry Kim looked at his readout "I'm picking up a polaron beam. We're being scanned"
The green beam makes its way across the bridge, as it passes over Captain Janeway "Think good thoughts"
However the Borg don't think good thoughts. A green tractor beam appeared from the cube trying to lock on to Voyager. Lt Tuvok "They are attempting to lock on a tractor beam"
Harry Kim "We're being hailed"
Captain Janeway braced herself for the inevitable "On screen"
The screen filled with an interior of the Borg cube. Thousands of voices spoke as one "We are the Borg. Lower your shields and surrender your vessel. You will be assimilated. Resistance is futile"
The ship shuddered. Lt Tuvok "They've locked on. The shields are being drained, 90, 80.."
Captain Janeway "Fire all weapons"
The cube was hit with multiple phaser and torpedo hits. The cube's outer hull was damaged but that did not deter the Borg who began regenerating.
"They still have us" Tuvok informs the Captain. There are multiple beeps "Shields are gone"
Several Drones transport on to the bridge. A couple of drones were disabled before the Borg adapted to the phaser fire. Captain Janeway watches as the first of her crew members are injected with nanoprobes. She can't know that this is happening on every deck of Voyager. A drone grabs her and injects nanoprobes into her neck. As her individuality slips away and her mind merges into the Borg collective, her last independent thought is that she had failed in her promise to get her crew home.
