The base of operations that Ryuzaki had built is a tall building. The streetlights are a faint glow at the bottom of the window that Light stares out of from bed. Next to him, the sugar-eating detective sleeps soundly. It's the first time he's seen the older man sleep since they were chained together, almost a week ago.

Sharing a bed is both an inconvenience and a convenience. Ryuzaki claims it's easier to keep an eye on him like this. Misa, Light's girlfriend, just thinks the detective is a pervert. Light thinks that he doesn't use the bed enough for it to matter. Being chained together is the real inconvenience. He has to sleep on a couch while the dark-haired man next to him works all night on the Kira case. Light hopes this psychopath gets caught soon, so he can be free of Ryuzaki.

His mind wanders, thought chasing each other around. It's a bitter irony that the one night he actually gets a chance to sleep in the bed—which is amazingly comfortable—he can't settle his mind down enough to actually sleep.

Ryuzaki… The alias used by the famous detective L. Ryuga Hideki, that was the other name L used, back at the university. Which, unfortunately, Light can no longer attend. In that world, he and Ryuga Hideki are friends, but being chained together at the wrist would raise questions.

His thoughts stop at sudden warmth against his back. Ryuzaki has rolled towards him, an arm pressed up against his back through the fabric of their shirts. He starts to inch further away, nearly falling off of the bed. Great, the detective is a bed-hog. Somehow, that figures.

It isn't that he is repulsed by the other man's closeness; it's simply a matter of personal space and comfort. He shouldn't mind closeness to others, surely he and his girlfriend, Misa Amane, has been this close before.

Why is he dating her, anyways? She is physically attractive, he certainly can't deny that, but that doesn't matter to him much. He'd never been attracted to a person based only on physical appearance before. Perhaps there was something more, something when they met… For an odd reason, that's a time he can't quite remember. They met at a café, right? Maybe…

He sighs, rolling onto his other side, coming face-to-face with Ryuzaki. Now there's someone who certainly doesn't inspire physical attraction. But at the same time, Light feels closeness to the man sleeping next to him. Attraction, almost. Mental attraction, he supposes, the intelligent part of him finds Ryuzaki's brainpower intriguing, annoying, and attractive. Perhaps that's why he doesn't mind being chained to him; it provides him with interesting things to think about.

"You should get some sleep, Light," a voice leaves the man next to him, though his expression doesn't change, he doesn't even open his eyes. "Tomorrow is going to be a busy day, after all." And just like that, it's as if Ryuzaki is still sleeping, and never woke up to speak those words.

"Right… As soon as you move your ass over. Queen size bed, and I'm practically on the floor here…" He muttered, giving the man a small shove. There was an exhale, like a half-attempted laugh, as Ryuzaki scooted backwards. Light lay on his bed, closing his eyes.

Based on one of my friends. She doesn't feel physical attraction to people, or emotional attraction much, but she feels strong mental attraction for others. Also, she got me into Death Note. So, I dedicate this to her, who shall never read it. Ever.

No, I'm not back, I just needed to write this to reduce some stress. And because Death Note win.
