The First And The Last
Chapter 1: Know your enemy
When Mike was awake, Harvey was already in his three-species-custom-made-Italian suit. The clock made a small beep sound letting Mike know that it was 7:00 am on a beautiful Sunday morning.
"Don't worry", Mike yawed as he woke up "My husband won't be back until tomorrow you know."
"It's still early", Harvey did not seem to be amused by his puppy's joke. He sat down on the bed next to Mike and gave him a good-morning kiss on the nose. "Sleep more."
"You need to go somewhere?"
"A friend needs my favor"
"Something happen to Donna?", Mike suddenly felt wide awake.
"No, she's fine", Harvey smiled. Harvey has been serious since he woke up and Mike was relief that Harvey looked a little bit more relaxed now.
But what friend? Beside Donna and Jessica, he had never seen Harvey cared for anyone enough to not spend a Sunday morning in peace. However, Mike didn't say anything more but wish his beloved boyfriend good luck and remind him about this dinner. Harvey kissed Mike again and headed to the door.
"Harvey...", Mike called when Harvey was about to walk out the door, Harvey turned around and they looked at each other for about a minute. "Just how long have you know this friend of yours?"
"Really long time ago..."
Harvey could spot him anywhere. There was always something about him that could charm everyone around him. The waitress blushed when he order his black coffee. The woman sat next to him could no longer focus on her phone. That was him, right there in the morning sunlight of New York, Harvey Specter's first mentor, Cameron Dennis.
"You got nerve to call me out", Harvey sat down on the chair in front of Cameron
"And yet here you are, sitting and enjoying coffee with me."
"Who said I enjoy it?"
"Black?"
"Black"
Cameron waved his hand and ordered another black coffee when Harvey took a closer look at his mentor. Nothing had changed since he left. The way Cameron wore his black vest suit with a blue tie, the way he put three spoon of sugar into his coffee or even his favorite newspaper on the table, The New York Times. Nothing had changed, but their relationship.
"I'm in trouble now Harvey"
"You always are"
"Not this time Harvey. Someone really want me to leave the chair and they are hiring Alexandra Leeds to take care of this case."
"Alexandra Leeds? Wow, they must really hate you. But it has nothing to do with me now Cameron. You left me. I left you. We're done. What you have done in the past is all yours"
"Not this case"
Cameron slammed a red folder on the table. Harvey glared at the name and immediately stood up.
"Is there anything wrong, sir?" the waitress wanted to approach him but Harvey hold up his hand and smiled back at her.
"We're done talking here, Cameron"
Harvey buttoned his vest and was ready to head out but Cameron grabbed his arm and pulled him closer.
"She will call you out. You know it. You will have to testify in this case. It's time to choose side, Harvey. It's me or Jessica."
"...and Mike", Harvey muttered
"What?"
"Let's discuss this problem later, shall we?"
Harvey freed himself from Cameron. He left a business card on the table with a $20 bill then headed straight to the door without looking back.
"You said what?"
"It's Monday morning Donna and as much as I want to destroy my ears for you, I simply can't."
"Keep your tasteless joke, Mike. What do you say the name is?"
"Cameron, Cameron Dennis. What's wrong? You don't seem really well."
"Everything!"
"Okay. I got it. Everything is wrong.", Mike backed off a few steps because he truly believed everything was wrong when Donna yelled like that. "So what's the deal with Cameron?"
Donna suddenly stood up and walked toward Mike. She put one arm on his shoulder and another one around his waist so he could not escape her surprisingly strong strength that was pulling him closer.
"Mikey, how long has you been working for Harvey?"
" Three years and five months"
"Do you know how long Harvey and I have known each other?"
" Three years and three month?", Mike pulled out his innocence puppy eyes hoping he could get out of this situation somehow.
"Listen to my advice, Mike. Be a good boy and buy your boyfriend some chocolate. Digging his past around won't do you or him any good. I have known Harvey forever and I can tell you one thing right now that he needs you more than ever."
Mike could tell by the tone that Donna wasn't joking around. He nodded and gently hugged her back.
"Oh, and a Prada's black jacket in their latest Winter collection will do", Donna added
"What?"
"How do you think Harvey will react when he knows his little puppy sniff around for his little secret?"
"Prada it is!"
