An Invader Zim One Shot

Dib didn't like Zim. Zim didn't like Dib. Facts are facts, there's no denying it. That's just how things work. But, facts can change.

It was a fairly cool October day. The smell of leaves blew in the wind. The street was quiet, but that wouldn't be true for long, as the date read October 31, Halloween. Dib frankly hated Halloween but who could blame him after last years' experience? Although he was still unsure whether that had truly happened, or if it was just a consequence of his insane mind.

Dib sat on his porch, a piece of pie his neighbour (a nice elderly woman) brought over beside him. He wasn't eating it though- his mind was elsewhere, but nowhere in particular. He just sat and daydreamed, about becoming a great paranormal investigator, about winning, about school being cancelled, about a lot of things. His mind was everywhere and nowhere, and he was content with that.

Dib didn't know how long he had been out there, but he began to head inside when his breath came out as white puffs and the pie was no longer warm. His house was exactly the same, like it was stuck in the same time period. His room was the same as well, mysterious mysteries posters and all. He lay down on his bed with a sigh; his legs dangled off, he had grown quite tall so he was able to manage this feat. He closed his eyes and tried to fall asleep.

Dib awoke again when a small tap was heard on his window. When he checked his clock it read that it was only 8: 30- prime trick or treating time. He glanced at his window and saw a certain green alien there. He smiled and opened the window. The other fell into the room without the support of the window to keep him standing. Dib laughed at him and Zim glared at the human half heartedly before laughing himself. They talked about nothing in particular. Neither of them felt bad for missing Halloween, for they didn't really like the holiday. But they did enjoy each others company.

You might ask why they are kind to one another, why they don't fight. While sharks have it right. Don't linger in the past, never stop moving, don't ever go back, keep going forwards.
