Hermione walked into a dark empty room. Almost empty anyway. She located a frame with glass shattered all around at the center of the room. It must have been destroyed during the last battle at Hogwarts. She found it strange that no one had bothered fixing it. Maybe they thought it was just an ordinary mirror. She knew better. The remains of the mirror of Erised stood in front of her.

"Reparo"

The shattered pieces flew back into place and in a blink of an eye, the mirror was restored to its former glory. Having completed what she had come for, the young witch turned around and walked away. Willing herself to not look at the reflection.

Hermione returned weeks later unable to resist. Curiosity got the better of her. It always did.

Walking into the room, she wondered if anyone had found the mirror yet. If they had, I'm sure they would be here right now, unable to look away. She stood in front of the grand mirror and focused all her might on her reflection.

There she was, in a beautiful sun dress, enjoying a summer afternoon, it seemed. She recognized the location right away. She was near the lake where the giant squid resided, but there were no students in site. Maybe it was before the school year began. Why would I be there though? Am I a professor?

The reflection spun around in circles basking in the sun. Hermione caught a glimpse of her arm and found it smooth. Tears threatened to spill as she looked down at her own arm.

Mudblood

The scar stood out from her otherwise light, flawless skin. Not able to look at her arm any longer, the young war veteran returned her full focus to the reflection. She looked happy. Innocent, as if the war hadn't tainted her, hadn't left her broken.

She couldn't stand it anymore. Hermione turned around and left. I'll be driven mad if I stay. Taunted by things I cannot have. She swore to not tell George. He would lose the light grip on reality he currently had. When the time is right, but not now.

Had she not turned around when she did, she would've seen three little kids run at her. Twin girls, with matching black, wild, bushy hair, but different eyes, one with chocolate brown eyes, and one with piercing green ones, followed by a little boy, visibly younger, with smooth brown hair and breathtaking green eyes. Trailing the smiling children was Hermione's soulmate.

The young witch was right to turn around. For if she hadn't, she wouldn't have thought it possible to one day have a future so bright. She didn't know it yet, but, with the exception of the visible scar, the scene in the mirror would one day become a reality. Had she not turned away when she did, she would have thought it only a cruel joke to watch herself being held in such a loving manner, being kissed in such a tender way by the love of her life. The one person she desired. Had she seen the image being reflected, she would've never been blessed with three beautiful kids.

She wouldn't have thought being with Minerva possible.

Hey guys I wrote this throughout the day, but could only reach a computer now, being Christmas and all, hope you guys enjoy.
