It was morning. Snow had fallen the night before, giving our tower and the entire studio lot a nice, bright, clean look. My siblings and I were sitting at the kitchen table having breakfast and watching the snow fall.
"I want to go sledding," said Wakko, after finishing his third bowl of cereal, "Dot, you want to come?"
"Sure," said Dot, putting on her coat, "Yakko, you coming?"
"You guys go ahead," I said, "I'll be there in a few minutes. After I clean up this kitchen."
"Okay," said Dot as they both excitedly ran outside into the snow.
It took me about fifteen minutes to clean the kitchen. Then I grabbed my scarf and coat and headed toward the door. As I opened it, I saw Wakko standing there. He looked worried.
"Yakko," he said, "I think you'd better come out here now."
"Why?," I said, "what's wrong?"
"It's Dot," he answered, "She fell off of her sled. I think she could be seriously hurt."
"Oh no!," I said, "what can I do to help?"
"Well, there's really not much to do," said Wakko, "After it happened, I ran to tell Miss Nurse. She called 911 and they're taking Dot to the hospital right now. Sorry."
"Oh," I said, walking back into the water tower.
Hours went by and we had not heard anything about Dot. I tried my best to console Wakko while trying to keep myself from not worrying but neither was successful.
I didn't get any sleep that night. It was as if there was this voice in my head and it kept saying over and over "You should have done something to help her. Why were you not there when she needed you?"
Then I had this very strange dream. I saw Dot lying there in the snow; crying and hurt.
"Help me!," she screamed, "please help me!"
But when I tried to get to her, everything around me seemed to go completely dark and fade away. But I could still hear my sister's cries and felt so terrible not being able to get to her.
Just then, I heard another voice; a voice that I had heard before but did not recognize.
"Yakko, " the voice said, "it's okay. Stop worrying."
I turned around to see who was speaking. Standing behind me was an older female toon dressed all in white. Her facial features reminded me of Dot, except instead of a flower, she had a small silver crown on her head. I instantly knew who it was.
"Mom?," I asked.
"Yes, Yakko," she answered.
"What are you doing here?," I said, a little surprised.
"Yakko, I know you feel bad about what happened to Dot," my mom said, embracing me, "but you have no reason to. It was an accident."
"I know, " I said, "but I just feel like if I had been there sooner, maybe I could have stopped it or at least done something to help."
"I understand that, " she said, "but I'm sure you did the best you could. I'm proud of you."
"Thanks," I said, giving her a hug, "there's just one thing I want to know."
"What's that?," she asked.
"What's going to happen to Dot?," I asked.
But before I got an answer, she was gone.
