Author's note: I wrote this in just under an hour, it hasn't been beta'd and I don't know if it makes sense (intense amount of caffine and then hearing Linkin Park songs), so let me know if you like or don't like. I haven't written anything for a while so this could be good, or bad...or very bad...you decide! But let me know please x

Pathetic Fallacy

The wind howled through the house sending sheets of notes and newspapers flying, the picture frames rattled on the walls while the picture on the mantle fell onto the hard wooden floor with a resounding crash. Outside, the rain beat down onto the sidewalk running onto the road, which had turned into a river.

The figure at the window watched as a SUV tried to navigate the raging water with little success; watched but did not see. The rain coming through the open window whipped at his face and chest, stinging the already cold skin but he did not seem to mind, or even feel it.

He smiled.

Not his usual genuine smile of excitement or content which were so full of his boyish charm and innocence. This smile came about from the strange illogical thought pattern that had recently become a part of him.

Doctor Daniel Jackson was not an angry man, occasionally he would argue a point to a certain hard-ass Colonel but he was not, in general, an angry or bitter man. Until now. He could try to explain it but not one of his PhD's would cover this, not in any language or culture.

He had changed dramatically in the last two days; since that day. The day everything came to a halt; his life, his heart…her. He was angry, no doubt about it, that was all he could be now. Angry that every life changing event in his life was a death of someone he loved, this was just the last straw. There is only so much bending you can do before you snap, and Daniel Jackson had snapped.

The weather mimicked his feelings, his thoughts as if in agreement. The world outside was in turmoil, the noise overwhelming as wind coursed through the open window; just like his thoughts.

Pathetic fallacy.

That's what it was called, pathetic fallacy, as if he were living in a novel. The irony of the situation, the cliché, it amused him.

He smiled.
