They were reduced to small talk waiting for Firestar to turn up. Night Thrasher didn't do small talk, he was just standing on the corner of the building waiting.
"Windy..." muttered Kid Nova.
"Uh huh," he replied. "Wonder what this Firestar is like."
"Hot?" joked Nova.
They grinned at each other then settled back into a companionable silence. Marvel Boy would've checked his watch if he was wearing one. How long did it take to fly from New Jersey? He glanced back at Nova.
"Cool helmet." Not entirely teasing.
It turned his way, eyes looking at him suspiciously with an expression of, 'Are you serious?'
"I like it," muttered Nova. "Not as good as my old one but it does the job."
The helmet turned away again, scanning for Firestar. Marvel Boy smiled to himself, it was a good day. He was on a team, admittedly not the Avengers but still, he was stoked. Captain America might not have seen his potential but Night Thrasher had.
"Nice cape."
Marvel Boy looked back at Nova in surprise and found him grinning like an idiot.
"What?"
"I don't really dig them for myself but that's a nice cape."
Now he knew why Nova had given him that look of suspicion.
"I like it," he muttered back.
