Author's Note: Yuuki is a vampire and she's 18. Kaname is 21. Zero is living with Chairman Cross and Yagari-sensei. Kaname and Yuuki are living in the Kuran mansion. Rido's dead.

1. Recollection

That night, at the vampire party in the Aidou house I woke up in a room I'd never seen before but somehow it seemed familiar. That's when I saw him. He was staring at me, his burgundy eyes filled with never-ending loneliness and pain. All I wanted to do was hold him in my arms and take his pain away but all I could do was give him more trouble.

Kaname-sama, my Kaname-sama…. I'm sorry. Even now, all I can do is cry. I have no right to be near you. I have no right love you. I don't deserve your love. I'm so sorry.

I decided to leave. I didn't want to hurt him anymore. I got up and ran towards the door. However, a strong yet gentle force pushed me back onto the couch. He was above me in an instant; his beautiful locks covered his face. His breathing was heavy. Neither of us spoke.

He was tired. He rested his head on my chest as his eyes slowly closed. I stroked his hair gently.

The man who always protected me, loved me… he looked so weak and helpless. This is all my fault. I'm such a burden. I've never been able to help anyone; I've only given them trouble. I couldn't hold back my tears any longer. I tried to stop but all I could do was cry.

That's when I felt someone's warm breath on my neck. His hair tickled my jaw while his tongue moved up neck. His eyes bore a crimson hue, filled with nothing but hunger and lust. Emotions I didn't understand...

"Do you want to become a vampire; live forever by my side?"

"Yes..."

Those words I uttered were not lies…

Kaname-sama, I love you.

"Yuuki, are you okay?"

"I'm fine, Kaname onii-sama."

"Let's get going then. We'll be late otherwise."

"Alright."

"We were invited by the Aidou's for another party. It's been 2 years since the last time I was there. Kaname was reluctant to attend but Aidou-san insisted so he had to oblige. Kaname doesn't like involving me in such matters however, it's only right that I attend as well.

He's always like this, trying to protect me. He never tells me what's bothering him but I can see the pain in his eyes, I can taste it in his blood."

She brought her fingers to her lips and pricked them with her fangs. A single drop of blood found its way onto her porcelain skin. She felt her brother move towards her. His fingers moved up her arm, leaving a trail of fire behind. His gaze met hers. They sat in silence until…

"Kuran-sama, we have arrived."

He let her go immediately and thanked the driver. He took out a handkerchief and wiped the blood off his sister's finger. She scowled. They got out of the car and walked into the mansion. Once inside, they were greeted by Aidou Hanabusa. He led them into the ballroom. All the vampires present bowed and greeted the two purebloods. Everyone wanted to meet the young pureblood princess. However, Kaname made sure that they didn't burden Yuuki with too many questions. His actions made Yuuki giggle.

The hours passed by slowly.

Yuuki could feel her body growing weaker by the minute. Kaname sensed this as well. He decided to take Yuuki away for a while. Sometime alone would help her body.
They ended up in the same room as before. It hadn't changed at all. Yuuki decided to lie down on the couch. Kaname rested his head on her chest. They both sighed. Yuuki's fingers were tangled up in Kaname's hair. She began playing with his hair. He began to kiss her collar bone. This made her moan in satisfaction. A smile found its way onto his lips.
