The Doctor stood helplessly, watching as the Master and his beloved Tardis vanished before his eyes. The Doctor remembered the Master's final words before he vanished, "I'm going to change the future of mankind, and you'll be powerless to stop me, Doctor!" But how? The Master had a million possibilities to choose from, that he could change to alter the future of the human race, and without his Tardis, the Doctor had no hope of finding him.
"Doctor!" Jack Harkness yelled, dragging the Doctor back to the present. Jack and Martha were leaning on the heavy door, trying to hold back the rebels. Martha screamed, as one of them slashed at her with his dagger. "We can't hold them much longer!" Martha turned fearful eyes to his and locked them there. The Doctor sprinted to the door, pulling out his sonic screwdriver on the way. He pushed with the others and slowly the door clicked shut. The Doctor sealed the door with one zap of his sonic screwdriver and relaxed his grip on the handle. "That was close." When there was no reply, he turned to see Jack, lowering Martha gently to the ground. "Martha?" In a flash he was there at her side. "Where did they hurt you?" Martha winced, and pressed a hand to her upper thigh. Blood streamed from between her fingers. "It needs pressure," Martha said through clenched teeth. Jack pulled off his jacket and ripped a long piece of fabric from his shirt. Swiftly he wrapped it tightly around Martha's leg, stilling the bleed.
"Doctor, we can't let the Master change history. From what I've seen of him, he doesn't look like the type who'd want to change it for the better." Jack said looking up at him from Martha's side.
"You're right, we have to find a way to stop him. But how? Without my Tardis, I can't travel in time."
"Yes you can." Jack raised his arm and unbuckled what looked like a large wristwatch.
"That's a time-travel teleport! You shouldn't even have that type of technology."
"I know. It's a Torchwood invention. I acquired one, when I started working for them." Jack held out the teleport to the Doctor. "Take it. You can use it to track your Tardis."
"Thank you, Jack. Stay here and look after Martha."
"It'll be my pleasure."
"You're not going to leave me here Doctor. I'm coming with you." Martha pushed herself up off the ground, but gasped as her leg gave way beneath her. The Doctor just managed to catch her before she fell. "No you're not. It'll be too dangerous, even if you could walk. You need to stay here with Jack. I'll be back soon, I promise. I'm a Time Lord, remember?" The Doctor grinned at her, and Martha couldn't help smiling back, despite the fact that he was leaving her.
"Good Luck Doctor," Jack said as the Doctor strapped the teleport to his wrist.
"And you," The Time-Lord caught one last glimpse of his friends before he was pulled through time and space.
