Her knuckles were raw and still slightly bleeding. The tape had done nothing to protect her skin, and that punching bag just wouldn't stop yelling at her.
"Stop calling me a fucking punching bag, Tamsin."
Dyson was bleeding, too.
"Fucking shut up."
"Feel better now?"
Tamsin brought her fists up. The tape was unravelling, proving to be pointless.
She was expected to be ready, to have her black dress on, and to not have her own split lip.
"I hate you," Tamsin snapped at Dyson. She licked her lips and tasted salt. She hated crying and she especially hated doing it in front of him.
"I know," Dyson breathed out, his hands cradling his bruised side.

She was technically not allowed to be in the Light Fae territory, and humans were technically not allowed to be buried in their plots.
Even in death, the Light Fae claimed possession and refused to send her remains to the city morgue. There was some confusion, at first, since Megan the Harpy had been suddenly slapped with the Chief of Staff role. The chaos at the Light Fae Medical Bay claimed lives since their doctor was gone; Bo had almost died, too, given that no one knew how to cater to her.
Bo was inconsolable and had to be sedated for a couple of days up to the funeral.
The day of the funeral was the first day Tamsin had been sober since Lauren's passing. She didn't stop fighting, however. Her face was nearly unrecognizable from the swelling and constant cuts from punches thrown.
Tamsin stood out of view from the ceremony and watched as Bo fell to the ground with broken sobs and broken sentences. She watched them leave one by one after throwing dirt onto her casket.
Tamsin cursed when she saw the Priest in attendance; Lauren wasn't religious and would probably be offended if she could see him there. She walked slowly to her headstone once everyone was gone. It wasn't even marked with her name. It was only marked with the Light Fae symbol much like the necklace she had worn.
"Hey, Doc," Tamsin said. She kneeled down and rested her forehead against cold marble. "I am so sorry I never told you just how much I love you."
