Stupid Game

Author's Note: Just a small Percabeth one-shot. Kinda an apology for me taking so long to update The Rod of Asclepius. I really need to update that more often, sorry guys. XD You just don't nag me enough~

Annabeth rolled her eyes as she watched Percy, staring in concentration at the slips of laminated paper in his hands. She'd never thought he'd get into it, especially with his ADD. He grinned at his opponent, placing a card on the table. "That all you got?" Nico placed another card on the table, and Percy groaned, pushing both cards towards Nico. "Mythomagic? I thought you grew out of that game, Nico. And, really, Percy?" Annabeth asked, amusement in her voice.

"It's actually pretty fun," Percy argued. "I'm sure. The game doesn't even get its facts straight, and the rules make no sense. They're so insensible that I can't even follow them!" Annabeth argued. Percy decided against commenting that she just didn't understand it. Nico watched them both silently as he placed another card on the table. Percy countered with a card of his own, taking them both.

Annabeth noticed the cards already sitting on the table, trying to run what little she'd already asked about through her head, trying to figure out what was so enjoyable about the game. She saw the statues beside some of the cards, sitting motionless as if guarding the cards. "What do the statues do?" she asked. "Nothing," Nico answered. "They're just collectables." "Oh." "Hey," Annabeth added casually, fingering one of the face-up cards Percy had just laid on the table, "does that one have a statue?" "Naw, it's not rare enough," Nico explained, his voice conveying slight annoyance at her questioning. "I thought you didn't like this game. Wasn't it 'an insult to mythology' or something?" Percy added.

Annabeth shrugged. "It's good to learn about the things you dislike," she explained, eyes intent on the card. She reached for it on the table, placed it in her pocket, and casually strolled towards her cabin. "Hey!" Percy objected, "That was one of my strongest cards!" Annabeth grinned, hoping Percy wouldn't miss his "Seaweed Warrior" card too much.

End Note: Hope you guys enjoyed it. Oh, and if I made any stupid grammar mistakes, feel free to throw them in my face. I'm WAY too tired for only 11:50 at night. ^^'

I've been meaning to write this up for months now… it may or may not have been inspired by a… personal experience with Magic: The Gathering and my own Seaweed Brain. 3
