Author's Note: Well, this is a most unusual pairing, but I always thought that this pairing would be cute. Enjoy, and C&C is welcome.

1 Remembrance

As he looked out into the cool night air, Fujitaka Kinomoto reflected on the events that had recently occurred. All of the revelations, that Touya and Yukito were lovers, that his little Sakura was one of the most powerful magicians in the world. It was almost too much to take in. He supposed things shouldn't really change that much, but something felt different. Touya would be looking at collages soon, and he would be leaving. In a sense, he didn't want his son to leave, because it would be losing the only other person who truly remembered Nadeshiko.

"Why are you out so late?" A soft, musical voice distracted him from his train of thought. "Why couldn't you sleep?" As he turned around, he realized it was one of the last people he expected to see.

Sonomi…..

"I was thinking.." Sonomi had no idea of the events that had just taken place, so naturally she wouldn't know about his concern.

"About her?" There was a tender quality in her voice that left no doubt as to whom she spoke of. Nadesiko.

"………" He didn't voice a reply. He didn't have to. Even after all of these years, they were still both deeply affected by Nadeshiko's death. Of course that wasn't the full extent of his thoughts, but it all came back to her. A slender hand touched his shoulder, and he turned around. "I thought you hated me."

" I really tried, but I can't hate someone Nadeshiko loved so much," her reply startled him, as she had always been very vehement in her supposed hatred. "I wanted to blame you for taking her away from me, but she was so happy, I couldn't blame you for causing her happiness."

"I never meant to take her away."

"I know that. I suppose I've always known that, but didn't want to admit it to myself, because that would mean Nadeshiko really wanted to leave me."

"I'm sure she didn't think of it that way at all, Sonomi."

Sonomi looked at him then, with gratefulness in her eyes. "I suppose not, but then, she didn't think much at all."

They both laughed for a minute, in remembrance, then sobered.

"She just wanted to have fun and be happy," Sonomi felt tears welling up in her eyes, and tried to suppress them, but she couldn't. Suddenly she felt arms encircling her as she let out her sobs on his shoulder. "It wasn't fair that it was her."

"No, it wasn't." He held the woman in his arms, allowing her to cry out her grief and sorrow over the woman they had both loved. He allowed her sobs to cease, but she didn't pull away. "We still have to go on, knowing she would have wanted us to be happy." He felt an affirmative nod from the slim figure in his arms. He brought his hand up to stroke Sonomi's hair. "Life will go on, and we will always remember."

Sonomi sighed contently, then pulled away. "Yes, we will always remember," And then she smiled, and turned to go home.
