The Demon Inside
Starscream looks around at the destruction around himself. He spots his two brothers fighting viciously against the Autobots. He lets out a cry as he is shot in the back. Starscream murderously turns around and sees an innocent-looking young mech...his mate...Smokescreen. Smokescreen holds up his gun. "I'm sorry, love," Smokescreen whispers. Starscream grabs his mate's arm and snaps it in two. Smokescreen screams in pain. Starscream turns the mech over onto his knee, the young one's airway against Starscream's knee. Starscream snaps his mate's airway, killing his lover instantly.
The battle goes silent. Starscream lays his mate down in the soft grass. Starscream lets out a cry of anguish. The Autobot medic steps forward, "We have to save the Sparkling." Starscream looks at the medic with fluid in his eyes, "Smokescreen was carrying a Sparkling? Oh, Primus no!" Bulkhead drags Starscream away from the lifeless corpse. Ratchet pulls out a tool and slices into the cadaver's abdomen. Ratchet pulls out a lump covered in blue Energon. Ratchet wipes off the Sparkling's faceplate, "It's a gorgeous little femme. She's got Smokescreen's facial structure and Starscream's coloring. Optimus, come look at your granddaughter."
Optimus walks over to the Sparkling. She chirps loudly. Optimus turns his head, fluid running down the Prime's faceplate. Ratchet sighs, "She's blind...poor scrap." Starscream runs over and picks up the Sparkling in his arms. Fluid streams down his face at how beautiful she is. "H-her name is Katniss. She's my little mockingjay. Katniss..."Starscream whispers. Megatron steps forward and dips his head, "Starscream, if you wish, you can call a truce. I didn't do that for you and your brothers."
Starscream looks from the Sparkling to Optimus to Megatron. The broken Seeker nods sadly and clutches her to his chest.
