Prologue

Two people stood on a hill, watching the sunset with quiet appreciation. The sky was a dazzling array of reds and golds, fading out into an evening blue sky.

"You really should get more credit for your sunsets, Celestia." The taller one who was on the left commented, turning his head toward her slightly so he could smirk deviously at her.

"You know very well that I am not the one who raises and lowers the sun, that's just an old wives tale." Celestia chuckled, turning to look up at him.

He only smirked wider, which made him look a little creepy, half his face showered with red light and the other half dark. It certainly made his sharp cheekbones stand out more and his softly glowing eyes certainly didn't help.

"I suppose so." He sighed, his expression changing abruptly from a smirk to a slight frown.

"I have to go now… And I can't come back for quite a while.." He told her, his voice lowering to a slight grumble.

Celestia smiled and nodded, "I know. You have business to attend to, King of the Demons." She said, elbowing him in the ribs with half-hearted mockery.

"Do not start calling me that, or I'll have to call you 'Empress Celestia', and that just sounds wrong." He snorted, attempting a smile.

"Well, you should be on your way. You shouldn't be late." She told him firmly. He looked at her thoughtfully,

"I know… But before I leave, I have a present to give you." He declared, then reached up and effortlessly plucked one of his curved horns from his head.

He held it out to her and she took it, giving him a confused look.

"If you need help, blow that horn and i'll send you some. Or come myself. It depends on how I'll be feeling that day." He told her with a light, teasing smile.

She nodded, "Understood…" She promised.

He smiled at her waveringly, "Goodbye Celestia.." He grunted, before he turned and snapped his fingers, disappearing into the cool evening air.

"Goodbye Discord." Celestia breathed to the empty air, looking down at the smooth, warm blue horn she held in her hands.

"I promise I'll make good use of your gift.."

Two-Hundred and Sixty-Seven years later

Celestia looked down at the blue horn, now laying in a box, surrounded by dark red velvet. Perhaps the time had finally come to use it. Help would certainly be very welcome in these dark times.

She sighed heavily and looked at the dark figure standing with her,

"We shall put it to a council vote. If they think it is the best idea, then we will do it."
