Harry Potter gulped as his parents waved from the station. He wasn't used to this amount of people. Usually it was just him, his parents, and his two uncles. Every since he could remember, it had only been the five of them. Every since they were attacked...
His mothers red hair waved in the wind, and his fathers glasses sparkled. People were staring. Of course his parents had warned him of that, that's what you get when you disappear from the wizarding world for ten years, but it wasn't like he was the boy who lived.
At least that anyone knew.
The compartment was empty, save for his owl Hedwig. She was sleeping next to the window.
Harry decided to close his eyes until the train started moving, til a loud shout reached his ears.
"Wait!" Cried a girls voice, looking out the window, he saw a mass of brown hair running to the train. She must of heard the final call.
Her trunk bumped on the ground behind her, flying up when it reached a particularly large dent in the ground. She was obviously muggle, judging by her clothes, and most likely a first year, like him, considering all the other children were already aboard.
She disappeared from view, most likely boarding, so Harry closed his eyes again, trying to settle the panic that was slowly setting in.
He and his family were always moving, so new places, no friends, wasn't an issue. But that's just it. It was always him and his family. Never just him. On his own. With new people. New surroundings. New bed. New adults. New everything.
Oh Merlin, he was going to die before he even went to the Opening Feast.
Another noise brought him out of his so-not-a-panic-attack.
A loud clanking coming down the hallway.
Suddenly, the train jerked into motion. Quickly sitting up straight, he waved frantically to his parents, silently wishing they would take him back to Wales, his home of the last 6 months. A loud yelp erupted from outside his cabin, before the door was loudly slammed open.
The girl he saw running outside stood there panting. Her hair was brown, and could easily outmatch his in its disarray. Her wide brown gleamed, slightly mad, slightly excited.
"I am sitting here, you are alone, and obviously a first year like me. I barely even made it to this train. First my parents and I could not even find the 9 ¾ platform, seeing as no one informed us it was a barrier! How was I supposed to know you had to run through it. Seemed like the most stupid thing, until I saw someone else do it. And then! And then my parents couldn't even come in to see me off because they are muggles. How unfair is that!"
She huffed, sitting down opposite him, arms crossed, eyes squinted at nothing in particular.
Harry sat shocked. He didn't think it was possible to say so much without taking a breath, but he didn't know how much this girl would show the impossible with him.
Seeming to remember something, she stuck out her hand, nose up, and proudly announced. " I'm Hermione Granger. And you are?"
AN: Whelp, there's the first chapter. I will try to make the chapters longer as I go, but I am just getting back in the grove of things, so bear with me. Please Review! I am pretty sure anon is on.
