Miaka was tossing and turning in her sleep.

"I love you, Yui." Miaka heard Tamahome's voice echoing through the darkness, and then she say them. Bothe Tamahome and Yui embracing each other.

"But what about Miaka?" Yui was embarrassed.

"Your friend? What about her?" He kissed her. Tamahome kissed her.

Miaka was there and had watched the whole thing. Did he really not care about her?

"T-Tamahome! I thought you loved me!" Her voice fell on deaf ears. "Don't leave me alone…" They didn't hear her.

"I could only love you," Tamahome continued. "Miss Priestess of Suzaku."

Miaka sat in her room, wondering 'Is it really me he loves?' She couldn't shake the dream from her head, it wasn't the first time she'd had it, and it tore her apart inside. Tamahome was just a character in a book before Suzaku granted her wish.

"If I had entered the book before you, then I would be the hero, Suzaku no miko. Then the love of Tamahome should have been me."

She remembered Yui's words exactly, but never had time to give them much thought. What if Tamahome didn't love her…what if he only loved the girl who would become the priestess? Then…anyone could've come along and… It really bothered her, the thought of some other girl in Tama's arms.

"It's just not fair! If it's really true, I'll rip him to shreds! I'll—" she shouted.

She felt a pat on her head.

"Yo. I've been trying to get your attention, girl of a thousand faces. What's wrong?" he was concerned yet he had a smile on his face. Apparently, she really had been making a lot of faces...again.

She shook her head. "It's nothing." She knew she couldn't fool him, after all, he probably knew her better than she did.

"Miaka," he had somehow gotten close to her without her noticing. He was mere inches away from her face. "You know you are pretty bad at keeping secrets, so why don't you just tell me now?"

"What's that supposed to mean?" he knew how to tick her off; he knew all of her weak points.

He was right, besides if she didn't tell him now, he'd bug her endlessly until she did. She let out a deep breath; she could already imagine him pestering her every two seconds, following her everywhere like a lost puppy…then again… She shook the thought out of her head.

"I was wondering if it was possible that you'd love someone else."

"Is it…is it about what Yui said before. How she loves me? How I'm some character from a book?" She shut her eyes tightly, she knew she'd hurt him. She felt his lips on her forehead.

"Don't worry; you're the only girl for me. It's true, I may only be a character from a book, but my love for you is as real as anything." He kissed her.

"I'm sorry for doubting you."

"And you should be! But I think it's cute when you're jealous." He said smiling.

"Although I wonder if Yui's cute when she's jealous too." He was slapped across the face. "I was kidding!" he protested a little too late.

Honestly! Miaka just didn't know what to with him. But she laughed. At least she didn't have to wonder, "What if…" anymore.
