Papyrus sets a mug of hot chocolate down on his brother's lap. "Here you go, one hot chocolate, no cherry and no whipped cream." Sans accepts the mug and smiles. "Thanks Papyrus." He sips the hot drink as Papyrus sits down next to him, pulling his green blanket over the two of them. "So, you excited for the new year?" Papyrus asks, sipping his own drink.
Sans nods tiredly and watches the swirls in his hot chocolate move around in calming circles. "Are you gonna make it this year?" Papyrus asks Sans with a chuckle. "Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna make it. It's not too far off." Sans replies, looking at the clock. Sans leans up against his older brother and sighs. "It's been almost four years." Sans whispers as if is was something he wasn't supposed to say.
Papyrus sighs and nods, putting an arm around Sans and pulling him closer. "Yeah, but we're all good now, Its a new year and an anniversary of our freedom." Sans gives Papyrus a little laugh. "Not yet, There's still fifteen minutes till midnight." Papyrus laughs himself, resting his mug on his leg underneath the blanket. "Very true Sans." Sans drinks his drinks and sets the empty mug on the floor.
"Papyrus?" Sans asks. "Yes Sans? What is it?" Sans fiddles with the edge of the blanket for a moment. "Do you think he'll ever come back? Again?" Papyrus looks a little shocked but suppresses it quickly. "Uh, no. No. because I'll never let him. I'll keep you safe, you and me." Sans snuggles up closer to Papyrus. "Thanks bro, you're the best."
As time ticked on Sans' eyes slowly fall shut. He fell asleep against his big brother, the television giving off a blue light. He'd rarely ever made it to midnight but this time he just made it. At twelve o' one Sans fell asleep, just enough time to see the new year come around.
