Heed No Nightly Noises.

Summary: Daffy seeks Bugs out during the night for some company, but nothing more: he certainly doesn't have nightmares. Pure Baby Looney Tunes fluff.

A/N:Er well… I can't help it. I just had to buy the Baby Looney Tunes DVD, didn't I? Very teensy little sugary drabble. No language, violence etc. Completely harmless. Prelude of sorts to something else I may or may not put up here.

I don't own any of the following characters etc.

Heed No Nightly Noises.

There was something tugging at his blanket. Gentle and infrequent at first, almost surreptitious. Sleep was beginning to claim him once more before the motion grew stronger; more persistent, determined, desperate.

He cracked open an eye with some effort, squinting into the dimly lit room and focusing slowly on a hesitant and almost shy (certainly not!) Daffy, hovering at his bedside. One hand was fisted in his blanket, clenching uncomfortably.

"Hi Daffy," he mumbled sleepily, screwing up his forehead. "What's up?"

Daffy said nothing at first, head downcast, unhappiness written plain across his features. Bugs forced himself to sit up a little, crooking his head in a palm, concerned.

"Daff?"

"I was, uh, wondering," the young duck whispered slowly, faltering. "Uh… Could I… couldIsleepwithyoutonight?"

Bugs blinked at him, uncomprehending.

"Could… could you what?"

"Can I… sleep… in your bed, with you," forced out Daffy, tangling his hand tighter into the blanket and trembling faintly; big liquid eyes finding his own.

"Did you have a bad dream," asked Bugs quietly, gently.

"N-no," he stammered, making a valiant and semi-efficient effort to sound affronted. "Of course not. Bad dreams don't scare me. That's for babies."

"Oh," said Bugs, raising an eyebrow drowsily.

"It's j-just I can hear th-things outside, and they're… uh… They're keeping me awake, is all. Not because I'm scared, but… but because…" He trailed off, glancing away. Bugs watched him quietly a moment, nodding.

"They're keeping you awake," he reminded, hinting that that would be enough of a reason. Daffy nodded back, swallowing.

"Y-yeah. And you snore, but I'm used to that. A-and if I listen to you, I don't hafta… listen to them."

Bugs decided he was too tired to take offence, and too touched that the usually stubborn duck wanted to come to him in the first place.

"Okay Daff," he said in agreement, flipping back his blanket. "Between me snoring, and you talkin' in your sleep, we should be able ta drown 'em out."

Daffy near beamed at him, scrambling up onto the bed and curling up at his side. Bugs pulled the blanket back down and make sure they were both covered snugly, before rolling onto his side and draping an arm over the soft feathered waist.

He was almost asleep again when a soft voice started up again briefly.

"Thanks Bugs," said Daffy quietly, barely audible; possibly hoping the sound would go unnoticed. Bugs opened an eye and looked down into his friend's gaze for a moment, before smiling.

"Don't mention it."
