Chapter 1

An deadly curse

Percy walked out onto the fire escape a glowing flower in his hand. He went over to the flower box, put in the flower and waited….moments after the flower bloomed and he beamed at the sight. A voice from behind him said "Nice Plant." He jumped and turned around to see………………………Nico!! "Sorry if I scared you." he said. Percy took this time to look over him carefully he had grown about an inch taller, with shaggy black hair, dark blue eyes, and was wearing a black t-shirt a black pants, and a skull ring. "Nico? What are you doing here??" asked Percy. "I have done some exploring and my partner wanted to meet you." he replied " Where is your friend?" Percy asked questioningly. "1 second." Nico said as he walked toward the edge of the fire escape. He whistled and out of nowhere appeared a black hawk with a crescent moon shape on its forehead. It flew not far above the fire escape as it blended into the dark lifeless night sky above them. Nico smiled and said "There she is." Percy looked at him questioningly "She?" He looked Percy straight in the eyes and said "Yes! She."

The hawk swooped down and landed on Nico's shoulder looking at me with fierce blue-gray eyes. I wanted to look away but they pulled me in deeper…something wasn't right with this hawk. She moved off Nico's arm and perched on the railing. Nico warned me "Don't blink." and I did just that. In the place of were the hawk was, was now a young eleven or twelve year old girl. She had long blond-brown hair which flowed freely in the wind. She wore a blue tank top, white t-shirt length open front jacket, baggy blue jeans, and around her neck was a shining blue stone and in the center of it was a crescent moon shape.

I gasped and drew out the Riptide lunging at her with it. Nico eyes grew wide and he said "Calm down she won't hurt you" ,but I couldn't hear him as my eyes focused on her heart. I lunged going to slash my sword threw her heart. At the last second I closed my eyes and a ringing noise filled my ears…like metal clashing. My eyes flew open and in her hand was a black sword that was luminous in the night.

She then said to me dangerously " I wouldn't do that if I was you." I heard Nico sigh and say to me in astonishment "What were you thinking?!" I looked at him and said "There something not right about her…I can feel it." Her eyes flashed a deadly emotion and she stealthy got up and was right in my face "Just because I am different doesn't mean I'm a bad person!!"

My eyes flashed with confusion and I said to her "How did you become different?" She looked at me her gaze filled with fog as she was looking threw her memories "When I was eight I was taken from my home by Hecate…she had a grudge against my mother…Athena. I was so young…so innocent she changed me into an animal ,but there was a loop hole in her magic and I had found a way to change whenever I wanted! One night a few years after I had snuck out and ran away! I've been a loner until I had met Nico! He gave me a purpose!!" " Wow! I'm sorry I lunged at you with my sword." I said ashamed. "That's fine!" she said in a cheery tone. A gust of wind blew at us making me and Nico shiver. She looked at us and suggested "May we go inside its kind of cold out here?"

My face twisted in realization and I stammered in embarrassment "oh yah ….um sure go on ahead."

We walked in. Their faces twisted in confusion and in unsion they said "Blue birthday cake??"
