Balance
Re-watched the finale and noticed that Emma was directly behind Hook. Thought to myself, 'What if she fell on him?' This happened as a result.
Emma had good balance. Great, even.
She wasn't a dancer or a gymnast or a skater, but years of running away from bullies, followed by years of chasing them had made her quick and agile on her feet.
But when the Jolly Roger lurched to a stop in Neverland, her balance failed her.
The ship jolted.
Her feet tangled, her knees knocked together, and she pitched forward, out of control.
Her hands landed squarely on Hook's square leather-clad shoulders.
He was the only one at the helm.
Of course it would be him.
The rest of her body followed, pressing fully against his urgently as she dragged one foot and attempted to stabilize herself.
He hadn't even moved when the Jolly shuddered to a stop.
Damn Pirate.
He looked over his shoulder, eyebrow raised, a cocky grin firmly in place.
"Manhandling me already, Swan?" He grinned, tongue curled behind his teeth, "Not that I didn't expect it, lass, I am irresistible, but I hadn't thought you'd leap on me in such a… public place."
She stared, eyes wide, and then pulled herself together.
Her tangled feet found purchase on the ship's now-still deck.
"Really?" She glared, "You couldn't think of a better come-on than that? Why is everything an innuendo with you?"
Something in his eyes softened.
She noticed, and leaned closer, trying to see more.
Regina coughed from behind them.
To Emma's right, Gold smirked sardonically, "When you two are done flirting," he said, "You'll notice the other ship coming at us with rather alarming speed…"
Emma's head flashed up as Hook's whipped back forward so quickly she was surprised he didn't hurt himself.
The chase was on.
