"That was a good talk" Owen said, he looked at Amelia from the corner of his eye as she picked her bag from the floor.

"Very… informative" she agreed and smiled.

He stood in front of her thinking he could steal another kiss before the doors of the elevator will open. But as always her lips hypnotized him and they completely ignored the opened door behind his back and then the door closed. They would keep ignoring everything else if not the cough they heard next to them.

Owen felt how Amelia pushed him back, she yelled "mom", and her voice sounded a little weird.

Owen turned around and saw her, Carolyn Shepherd, she was standing next to them and amused look on her face.

"Hello Amelia and Major Hunt, right?" Carolyn smiled and leaned on the wall of the elevator.

"Yes, ma'am" Owen scratched the back of his head, completely unsure about how he should react in that situation.

"What are you doing here?" Amelia asked shocked.

"I came to visit you all, I have a granddaughter I would like to meet, and I wanted to make sure you are doing well but I see you are in good hands" Carolyn smiled and raised her eyebrow.

"Mom" Amelia said "I think Owen needs to go, he has work and stuff to do, right?"

"Actually I am very free for tonight, so Mrs. Shepherd are you hungry? We have this Italian restaurant here in Seattle that you have to visit" Owen suggested.

"That sounds lovely Dr Hunt" Carolyn said "but please call me Carolyn".

"fine and it is Owen" he smiled and shook her hand, when the doors of the elevator opened they walked out, Amelia still shocked stayed behind until the doors started closing again but she opened then and run after her mom and Owen realizing that leaving those two alone will be worse.

Owen was right, the restaurant was indeed great but Amelia barely tasted the food, she was too anxious. Owen and her mom kept talking like they were best friend for their whole life, Owen was telling her at the moment about what Bailey did last week and Maggie told the whole hospital about.

"Oh that is so sweet, he is growing so fast" Carolyn took a sip from her glass and added "he looks so much like Meredith".

"Yes" Owen agreed.

The rest of the dinner went well, Amelia was in silence but Owen and Carolyn had a good time, Owen paid and left the mom and the daughter to catch up.

"So you two are seeing each other?" Carolyn asked not taking her eyes from Amelia who wished she could disappear in her taxi sit "why didn't you tell me about it?"

"We aren't seeing each other" Amelia said "we are talking?" the last word sounded like a question.

"So you are calling what I saw earlier talking?"

"I… guess so" Amelia smiled.

"He is a good guy, and I think you are happier with him then without him" Carolyn put her hand over Amelia's.

"I think you are right but I am just so scared and confused I mean I am very…" Amelia had to tell herself to filter in her mind "attractive to him and he is my friend and it is me and I always ruin everything good in my life. I just don't want to ruin him too".

"Amelia I don't know him much but he doesn't look like a man you can ruin so easily, he is the kind of men that you are going to rebuild yourself together not destroy each other" Carolyn said and then added "don't run, I know that is what we all do after your father but you don't want to wake up in twenty years knowing that you run from the love of you life. It is much better waking up next to your love… and maybe the father of your children".

"Mom" Amelia couldn't resist but to smile.
