As Buffy gazed out into the open pit that was once Sunnydale she thought
that she saw a flicker of movement off into the distance, but dismissed it.
As she turned her back on her old life and took a step to starting a new
one she thought she heard a shout echo behind her.
"Buffy!" he yelled with all his strength almost laughing and crying at the same time. She finally realized that yes she was hearing Spike's voice shouting at her. "Spike.. h-how.. wh-what.. are you alive?" she stuttered out. "Yeah luv apparently I earned my humanity back!" he answered her with a magnificent smile on his face.
Buffy hesitated for an instant than flung herself into his arms joining into his combination of celebrating with tears and laughter. He spun her around screaming out "I'm alive, Buffy!" at the same time.
Everyone else looked on in awe. Spike had saved the world and come back to them all in one day. They couldn't think of what to make of the happy couple. Dawn took a tentative step in the exuberant duo than ran the rest of the way making a group hug.
Willow and Xander looked curiously at one another then shrugged and joined in the festivities soon to be followed by everyone, but the injured. The Scooby Gang was still intact in addition to a couple dozen new members. Now they could go where ever they wanted and be whatever they wanted to be. Their bravery had not only saved the world, but had set them free.
