She was out for three days, they said, and is a real wreck besides; internal bleeding, fractures, a near fatal brain injury, the works.
Two emergency surgeries put her out of immediate danger, and one day a doctor enters her room to tell her that, though she's possibly the worst case in the hospital's history, they'll be able to patch her up.
Looking out the window at the bleak view, she sighs and says flatly, "No you won't."
The man chuckles nervously and then leaves, still thinking he's right.
But he's not.
