A/N - Okay, here we go. The revised version of Annie Morphs is up and running. Let's see how far I get before I give up again. ^_^ For those who don't remember from last time, this takes place when they're about fourteen or fifteen, around book thirty or so.

Disclaimer: I do not own the Animorphs series. I do, however, own Annie and a few minor OCs.

Chapter 1

My name is Annie.

I'm a normal teenage girl. I go to school, have crushes, get acne, and constantly gripe about anything and everything.

But I also have another life, one I share with only a handful of people. We're kind of like superheroes, I guess, only a whole lot less glamorous and without all the cool sound effects. And no action figures.

So the seven of us – half a dozen kids, including myself, plus Ax, our resident alien – we fight. Alone, usually. We fight the Yeerks.

I can't tell you where we live, or my full name, or any of the last names of my friends. Maybe I'm not even using our real first names. I guess you'll never know.

But all the facts are true. Earth – our Earth, yes – is being invaded by aliens.

Now you think I'm crazy. But I've said it once, and I'll say it again: It's all true. So before you pack me up and send me off to the nuthouse, just hear me out.

And now maybe you're thinking, Okay, I'll go along with this. So it's true. Where are all the laser beams, the flying saucers, the little green men from Mars?

And I'd answer: It's not that kind of invasion.

Because the Yeerks – yes, they're little, and sure, maybe a little green, but they're not men and they're certainly not from Mars. They have laser beams, and they have flying saucers, and advanced technology, but their invasion? Their strategy? It's not a straightforward attack, not like you see in the movies. Nah, that would be too easy.

The Yeerks are parasites.

They look like slugs. They crawl into your head, in through your ear, spreading over your brain and forcing themselves into every little nook and cranny and worming their way into your synapses, into your very memories. You want to run and scream and beg, but you can't. You can't eat or drink or talk or even wiggle a finger without the Yeerk in your head controlling every move, every muscle. All you can do is cower silently in some forgotten back corner of your mind, watching helplessly as the Yeerk does what you've always done. Laughs your laugh, smiles your smile, tricks your friends and family and slowly, slowly, takes over the world.

And that's what we have to stop. The seven of us. Jake, Cassie, Tobias, Rachel, Marco, Ax. And me. Annie. Just a normal teenage girl with normal teenage problems. And on the side I also have to save the human race.

Just a normal day in the life of an Animorph.

That's what we are – Animorphs. Marco came up with the word. We're human, sure – but inside each of us rests the power of the Andalite's morphing technology. We have the power to become – literally become – any animal we touch, for up to two hours.

And just how did half a dozen kids get this power? Well, the others – that's a long story, and one that it's not my place to tell. Let's just say it all started in the abandoned construction site on the way home from the mall one evening.

And as for me?

Well, it started for me at a bookstore, and all I did was buy a book.
