Neither Charmed or Merlin belongs to me, I'm just playing with the characters because its fun.
Hope you enjoy and please review. Any suggestions for improvement will be gratefully accepted.
Sometimes he got so frustrated with his brother.
He never hated him. No. He loved him with all his heart. That would never change.
But sometimes he could be a royal pain in the backside.
Wyatt just always had to be better. He always had to be more. He couldn't just let Chris have even five minutes in the limelight now and then.
He knew that Wyatt loved him too. That he wasn't deliberately trying to be cruel. It was just in his nature to want to be centre of attention all the time.
Of course that was to be expected.
Ever since mum had pulled that sword out of the stone they had known who he was. The legendary King Arthur. Born again.
That in itself was just another thing for him to brag about. Waving his sword about like he was King again, back in Camelot rather than here in Halliwell manor where he would inevitably break something and mum would take it away until he promised to behave.
It did make sense though.
How could a former king be anything but an attention hog.
But Chris knew something that his brother didn't. Had figured it out a while ago. It was so obvious when you thought about it.
He thinks Aunt Paige may have worked it out too, even before he did, that's why she had given him so many books on Arthurian legends. Everything she could find in the magic school library. So many stories and adventures and history all bound by one eternal truth.
Where Arthur went, Merlin followed.
There was no question that Chris had followed Wyatt his whole life. Probably a dozen lives before this one too, and would continue to for many more.
That was his way. The quiet one. Modest and unassuming, always in the background but always there.
So even when he got frustrated with Wyatt for belittling him and pushing him down, whether intentional or not, Chris always managed to find comfort in the fact that, that was his place. It was ok to be beneath his brother. He had to be.
How else would he support him?
He had to be below him to hold him up. To keep him on the path he was destined to follow. Heavens knows he had done that. He turned back time and changed the world to keep him in the light and he knew in his heart that he would do the same a thousand times over and without complaint if that's what it took.
It was his destiny.
To guide his brother.
To keep him strong.
His revelation even managed to help him get over his resentment towards Leo. And isn't that just hilarious, of all the names he could have had; Leo. The lion. The King. But that made sense too, didn't it?
It was quite ironic really. The former magic hating tyrant; reborn as a guardian protector of witches. It was unfortunate that he managed to hold onto his dislike of Merlin even after all this time, but still….understandable. So Chris decided to forgive him for it.
In his father's defence he really was trying to be kinder to his youngest son this time round. He could live with him showing a bit of favouritism to the bull-headed prince now and then.
Especially when said price was so practiced in claiming all the attention for himself anyway.
