I stand there, watching her leave. A part of me knows she's Clarke, and she'll do what she wants to do. But another part knows she's a princess and I want to be her hero.
I take two steps towards the camp before my heroic side winds out. I spun around and jig down the track, reaching her just before the tree line. I consider calling her name, but I'm scared she'll spook so I stay quiet and grab her arm when I get close. She lets out a gasp and turns to see me. Her face softens slightly when she knows it's me, but only slightly.
'What are you doing Bellamy?' She doesn't sound angry, more... Tired. As if I'm a burden to her. I try not to let it faze me.
'Don't leave' I say simply, knowing its never going to fly.
'I have to.' She replies.
Then I'm coming with you.' Trying to deflect the true extent of the sentence by using a throw away tone.
'Not a chance.' She replies, 'You need to stay here. What about Octavia?'
'She has Lincoln. She'll be fine. I need to be with you.'
'Why?!' She yells, obviously wishing I would let go of her wrist so she can make a break for it.
Because!' I scream now getting angry myself, 'Because I don't know what I'm supposed to do here without you!'
Silence. Finally I've rendered her speechless.
'You're the brains Clarke. Without you, the adults are going to ruin everything we've built. I can't watch that, and I certainly can't fix it by myself.'
'Bellamy, you're not an idiot. You can do whatever you want, and i don't need your help.' She tries to turn away and new surge of anger overtakes me.
'I need you!' I yell, well aware that the guards and anyone else within 10 feet of the gate will be able to hear me.
'i missed you Clarke, when I was in Mount Weather, and I missed you when I ran from the drop ship!' I pause a moment, lowering the decibel level sufficiently, 'I've lost you too many times already Clarke, u wont ley it happen again.' Her eyes dart backwards and forwards, the way they do when she's considering a problem. I know she's not convinced, and I cant think what will convince her, but then it hits me. I more my hand from her wrist to her hand, interlinking her fingers with mine, causing her to look at me again. Before I can talk myself out of it I lean forward, pressing my lips to hers and trying to put as much passion as I can into one organ. I think if her leaving and I deepen the kiss, this time grabbing her hips and pulling her tightly against me. I can't contain the groan in the back of my throat, and she returns the sound with a moan of her own.
When we've used up all the air between us I pull away, gasping for breath. When I look at her I see she's smiling and I cant help but plaster a grin on my own face.
Without a word, she puts her hand in mine. Pulling me with her towards the trees.
