"That…wasn't a very good movie…" Zoe trailed off, not sure what else to say. The others nodded in agreement, lounging around Darien's living room on a Friday Movie Night, as was their custom. It had been Serena's idea for them to watch Vanilla Sky and it had surprised them all so much that they had agreed. Most of them hadn't seen it, and those who had claimed to have forgotten most of it. Zoe knew why now.
"I don't know," Amy said quietly, gaining everyone's attention. "I kind of liked parts of it. Especially that line about being cats. It reminded me of Artemis and Luna." The rest of the group stared at her for a moment before shaking their heads collectively in amusement.
"I can see that," Serena agreed. "'I'll see you in another life…when we are both cats.' It's kind of cool to think about. What would you do if you were a cat for a day?" Everyone groaned at the absurdity of the blonde's question, and the group broke up shortly after. Zoe walked Amy home, as was also a custom, and kissed her softly on the cheek before saying good-night. She laughed as Zoe stepped back to walk away and she looked at her curiously.
"I'll tell you in another life," she giggled. "When we are both cats." She groaned at the absurdity and waved before going home.
She forgot about that night, forgot about all the nights before and after it, when Beryl showed up to claim her – to claim them all - and it was with a strangely curious sense of knowledge that she somehow knew what the beautiful warrior of Mercury was going to say when she brushed her hair from her forehead, her blood seeping from the icicle piericing her side – a killing blow, she'd known it the moment it had struck.
"I'll see you in another life," she whispered, inexplicable sadness in her eyes considering that she was the reason Zoe lay dying at her feet.
"When we are both cats," Zoe finished, wondering how she knew, her breath leaving in a soft exhale.
"And I will love you then, too," Sailor Mercury said, closing the eyes of the blonde woman in front of her.
