Soft flakes floated swiftly down from the clear, blue sky above, glistening like millions of little diamonds. As they gentle fell, layer upon layer, they began to create a soft, fluffy blanket, hiding the ground from sight. The outside world seemed to resemble a miniature muggle snow globe, one that had been joyfully shaken by an excited child. Cottages lined the street, each resembling small gingerbread houses. It was early December meaning Christmas was fast approaching and nobody was more excited than Nymphadora Lupin, also more informally known as Tonks by many of her friends. She was currently experiencing her second trimester of pregnancy, and was very excited about her impending arrival despite the dangerous times they were living in.

Tonks peered down at her slightly swollen abdomen, a somewhat sad smile gracing her face. "I wish your daddy was here, I miss him terribly," she whispered. She often found that talking softly to the baby greatly calmed her and made her feel peaceful. Tonks rubbed gentle circles on her growing bump and left out a soft sigh, "He'll be home soon hopefully, and he'll be safe." She inhaled slowly on the bed she was resting on and welcomed the comforting scent of sweet chocolate and fresh parchment Remus always smelt of.

Andromeda Tonks, Nymphadora's mother, was currently staying over at the small but cosy cottage which Remus and Tonks shared together, whilst her husband, Ted Tonks, stayed at home to hold the fort. It was a miracle her father had managed to last this long, and with a pound of dread, she knew that he would soon have to go on the run before the Ministry of Magic realised Ted never turned up for questioning about his blood status. Her mother, Andromeda, was very beautiful, her brunette hair spilling down around her shoulders in soft waves, adorning her pale complexion. Her dark eyes held warmth and her lips were faded pink.

Andromeda was currently caring for her only daughter whilst Remus was away persuading the werewolves underground to join their side in the war. Since the late Albus Dumbledore had sadly passed away Remus felt it was his duty to continue his efforts in persuading the werewolves, determined to fulfil the wishes of his late mentor. Tonks had insisted that he had already done more than enough, but Remus continued to go underground, arguing that the more people on their side the better. She had reluctantly agreed but that didn't prevent her from constantly worrying about the safety of her husband.

Her mother arrived at her bedroom door, knocking it gently, "Nymphadora love, can I come in for a second please?"

Tonks sat up on the bed before responding, "Yeah, come in".

Her mother came in and immediately noticed the solemn look on her daughter's heart-shaped face. She let out a quiet sigh as she perched herself on the edge of the bed, resting a comforting hand on daughter's knee.

"Don't worry love, I'm sure Remus is fine. He knows what he is doing sweetheart, he's a clever man, and he'll be home before you know it."

Tonks adored how supportive her mother had been during Remus' absence and she appreciated it greatly.

"I know mum, I just can't help but worry."

"I know you do love, I know you do, but hey I know what would cheer you up!"

Tonks arched an eyebrow "Go on."

"A nice, warm cup of tea with a side order of ginger newts".

Tonks smiled as she thought of her previous Transfiguration Professor, and current member of the Order of the Phoenix, Minerva McGonagall, who seemed to have a great fondness for the biscuit treat.

"Yeah, that would be great, mum, thanks."

"No worries dear, what do you think I'm here for?"

Tonks laughed lightly then hesitated... "Mum, do you think I will be a good mother?"

Andromeda smiled at her daughter as she placed a hand on her daughter's bump, looking up into Tonks' face, "There is no way to be a perfect mother, but a billion ways to be a good one and I have complete faith in you darling. You and Remus will be wonderful parents."

Tonks returned the smile, "Thanks, Mum. I love you."

Her mother leaned over and pressed a light kiss on her forehead, "I love you too, sweetheart." And with that, she retreated from the room to go and make her daughter's cup of tea and biscuits.
