I was walking alone in the rain, not really having any regard for my safety. I guess I was just out of it. I don't know what to to, what to think. what to feel. Well, other than sadness. Sadness. A word only the weak would dare to speak. Then, I guess that makes me weak. I was wearing my hoodie, but being soaking wet, it would matter if I had a new one on anyway. What am I doing? I'm going to freeze to death. Well, I have a warm home to go to. But it just feels so cold. I have nothing to go to anyway, there isn't anyone even there. There isn't even anyone that cares about me. Thats not why i'm sad even. I guess i'll wait until I die out here, so I can join the rest.
"Mathew!"
"Huh?"
I turned around and saw a very… familiar figure standing about ten feet in front of me.
Tall even. Wearing a long grayish tan trench coat.
" I-I…Ivan?"
He suddenly came closer, then I knew right away. It WAS Ivan. I recognized the familiar
Russian accent that came from him.
"What are you doing out here Mathew? You are going to freeze to death!"
I suddenly looked him in those worried, purple eyes that starred in concern look back at me.
"Why do you care? It doesn't seem like anyone else does, why did you even come looking for me?"
He looked at me with half confusion, and half shock on his face.
" Mathew…"
I didn't hear what he said, for some reason I had blacked out. The next thing I knew, I woke up in a strange place I had never seen before…I didn't start to panic though. I was wrapped in a blanket, and I think I was laying on a couch. I heard that same familiar Russian accent from earlier.
" Oh good, your awake, da."
"Ivan? W-where am I?"
"It's ok, you're safe here inside my house."
So thats where I was. Inside his house. But why? I didn't understand why he even cared. Nobody cares about, poor, invisible, forgotten Mathew. I saw that he was holding up a plate, with what I could see on it was a cup with steaming liquid inside. He gave it to me and smiled.
"This is something I made for you, so that you wouldn't be so cold."
I sat up and took it. When I sipped it, I realized it was hot chocolate. He sat down next to me on the couch, still having that grin on his face.
"T-thank you Ivan. Why did you bring me here?"
His smiled faded, and he looked away into nothing. As if he was in a daze almost.
" Well, you fainted and I couldn't just leave you there. So I carried you here."
"You…you did?"
He gave a simple nod, and I set my cup on the plate, that was sitting on the coffee table beside the couch.
"Well…why?"
He looked at me once more, that same look in his eyes. He came closer, and tried to speak.
" Mathew, I…L-L…Lo…"
"Lo?"
" Nothing… never mind."
I don't know what came over me, but I almost immediately hugged him. He seemed a little shocked, but hugged back as well. He took my hands in his, and came closer to my ear. He whispered-
"Mathew, I love you."
I was shocked when he said that simple phrase. Nobody loved me, not even my own brother. He meant it though. I knew he did, I could hear it in his voice. He backed away from my ear, but still very close to my face.
" Ivan…"
Before I had the chance to say anything else, he closed my mouth with his own. I didn't expect it, but I didn't back away either. Instead, I kissed him back. I didn't feel cold anymore, Ivan's warm embrace was the only thing that I needed. He stroked my hair, and I was just enjoying every minute of it. When we broke away, he had the cutest smile on his face.
" Ivan, I love you too."
We kissed again, and I new that this was what I wanted all along. Love.
