Author's Note: I posted this some days ago somewhere else, after hearing the news that The Man Who Fell to Earth had returned to the stars. Somehow, I felt that this needed to have its own story so I'm sharing it here in its extended form.
I finally found the courage to watch the video of Blackstar and it is NOT for the faint-hearted. Visceral, gut-wrenching, thought-provoking, an almost savage amalgamation of images and symbolisms. And it is beautiful. Like the man and artist behind it.
He brings us full circle to most of the things he had shared with us, and amidst it all is a lovely little present: his own continuation to the beloved story of Labyrinth. Or at least my heart tells me.
Disclaimer: Labyrinth belongs to Jim Henson, George Lucas and David Bowie. The story/interpretation and the grateful heart are my own.
(Once again, WARNING! The full video may be difficult to watch)

It had been quite a journey for all of them, hadn't it? He had kept his part of the bargain. He had set her free. Yet he had stayed because she asked him to. He had embraced her mortal world and all the truths within it, including the pain that he would one day leave her.
(Jump to the 1:57 to 2:03 mark) Sarah finally returns to the Labyrinth and the Castle of the Goblin King, bringing with her all that is left of her dreams. The courtyard stands empty, the castle looms dark, silent and despondent ahead of her.
(2:20 to 2:27) The castle stirs as if sensing her presence... his presence.
Creatures of magic are never truly bound after all, and she leads him here, to this place, where his power was once absolute. To where it all began and where it first ended.
(5:01 to 5:05) A familiar face, a familiar gaze, and perhaps memories of what had once brought them together. Once again, she will solve the Labyrinth, but this time, it will be for him. He had given her everything, and now she must give everything back in return.
(5:09 to 5:21) She summons him once more, a single wish in her heart, confident that he will not fail her. She smiles, almost daringly. She will hold him to that one last promise he had made her: I'll leave my love between the stars... I'll be there for you.
She will move those same stars if need be, for love and sacrifice, for victory and defeat, for life and death, just as he had done for her.
Ah yes, his brave and beautiful Sarah… And with one defiant awakening he heeds her call.
(9:54)The skies gurgle like a delighted child, and the castle awakens as all rejoice the return of Jareth, the Goblin King.
He alone can fulfill her heart's desire. She alone has this power over him.
Disclaimer: I'm not exactly sure what the heck I'm doing. I'm not even sure if I'm allowed to do this. I'm just doing it because… it hurts… it hurts like hell.
So it could be "just a crystal, nothing more." And somewhere beyond, Major Tom facepalms in complete exasperation at my audacity.
*sets up galactic shield for those tomatoes*
