This idea came to me when I read the recent GA mangas... when Mikan and Natsume are running away.. Running away means leaving everything behind.. but does Natsume have the heart to do so?

This is a Ruka and Natsume fic.. and NO THIS IS NOT YAOI... I've been itching to write something like this.. friendship fics concerning two boys always adores me.. I am a girl after all..

I'll continue this when I finish 7days...

No summary will be given since this is simply a 'prelude' to everything...

A very very short prelude that is... more like 300+ word prelude..

"Just go!" Ruka yelled angrily at his bestfriend. His animal pheromone alice fell thick around them, calling out all the help they needed. "I'll hold them off as long as I can."

"Ruka…" Natsume was taken off guard at the young man's command. Those guys shouldn't be taken lightly. Ruka doesn't even have 'that' kind of experience to the darkness he dealt with.

"Damn it Natsume. Just follow Mikan and go!" Ruka said with authority in his voice hoping to persuade Nastume. He knew Mikan needed... no, wanted to be by Natsume's side, especially in circumstances like this.

Before the boy blinked his ruby eyes, a swarm of bats flew in front him separating them both. He growled at Ruka for pushing it this far. "Ruka, I swear if you die on me…" His words were caught in his throat the minute he felt the air of death as Persona and the others approached their position. His stomach churned at the thought of his words becoming a reality.

"You've always protected me..." Natsume heard his hoarse voice hiding the pain in his ribs. "You sacrificed your happiness… even your love. This time, it's my turn. I'm doing this for your sake you idiot!"

More bats came and was pushing Natsume away making sure he'll comply with their master's request. "RUKA!" He screamed his name, anguish evident in his cry.

"Natsume, we have to go. The portal won't last long…" Narumi grabbed his wrist tightly but Natsume kept resisting, trying to break himself free.

"NOOOO! Like hell I'll leave you behind!" Natsume pushed himself away from Narumi's grasp and desperately fought past the countless bats blocking his way.

His heart was beating wildly, scared in losing his friend who was stupid enough to protect him. It was suicide. Persona and the others won't hesitate to kill him. The only thing in his mind right now was to reach him in time.

If only he could reach his hand and pull him to them.

Even through the wall of bats, he distinctively heard his soft voice… as if it was goodbye.

"I promise to protect you."

Those were the last words he heard from his bestfriend before Narumi used his alice to knock him unconscious.
