'OI, POTTER!' Lily Evans stormed into the heads common, only to find a startled James Potter, who appeared to have fallen asleep whilst doing his Ancient Runes homework. Realizing who had ever so rudely awoken him, James short the red head a dazzling grin, which made her heart leap. His hair was a tad messier than usual, Lily noticed, as she sat down next to James, trying to hold in a shiver as their arms made contact.
'Lily,' James chuckled, 'How many times have I told you to call me James? We are friends now, after all.' He shot her another grin, and Lily could feel her cheeks heating up slightly. 'Yeah okay then P-James.' Lily stuttered, causing James to raise his eyebrow in amusement.
'What's up Lil?' He asked, when he saw the worry in her gorgeous orbs. She looked at him and sighed.
'James, I'm going to just come out and say it, all right? I mean, I at least owe you that, considering how much of a bitch I've been all these years and I called you truly uncalled for names and know that I know you better I,Lily was cut of by James grabbing her hand and giving it a light squeeze.'Just tell me Lily.' He kept his gaze on her and she felt her insides melt. She took a deep breath. This was it.
Lily had held back from telling James this for a long time. She thought she was nothing but a games to James, just something to keep him entertained. She always told herself that she did not like James and that she never would, but the reality of it was that she was scared. She was scared that James would just move on to his next victim, after making a big show out of the fact that he had finally captured the heart of Lily Evans, brushing her off like he hadn't chased after her for so many years, like she meant nothing to him.
But Lily knew James better now, and she knew that James would never humiliate her like that, even if he didn't return her feelings. She knew she'd be hurt and some what angry if he didn't return them, but considering he had spent so long trying to get her attention it was a risk she was willing to take.
'I think..erm..I t-think I'm in love with you James.' She held her breath and for some reason, she found the floor strangely interesting. She felt a finger under her chin, and it pulled at her chin until she met those hazel eyes, the eyes she had grown so fond of. They made her melt. Honestly. He slowing leaned in, and connected their lips together.
Lily sighed and immediately brought her hands to his hair, she'd dreamed of doing it for so long. His hands wrapped around her waist, and pulled her closed, his thumbs rubbing gentle circles on her bare skin. James couldn't believe this was happening. All thoughts left his mind after he brought his lips to hers. They were better than he had imagined, they were soft (merlin, were they soft) and plump and he could even taste her cherry lip gloss, which contrasted really well with her strawberry scented hair (If Sirius ever heard him say that, he was positive that he would he would hex his lower parts of, claiming he didn't deserve them, the big pansy). When pulled away, James brought his forehead to Lily's, and he smiled at her.
'You have no idea how long I've been waiting for you to say that.' He whispered softly in her ear, his warm breath making her shiver. She smiled and pecked his lips, and it made him smile that big lopsided smile. The smile she adored. His hands still around his waist, he pulled her on to his lap. She smiled and buried her head into the crook of his neck. He mirrored her smile and kissed her forehead. 'Oh, and Lily?'
She pulled her head back slightly so she could look into his eyes, and was over whelmed at how much love and happiness they held.
'Hm?' 'I love you, too.'
