"Just tell me why?" Jason's voice cracks. He runs his hand through his hair, little pieces falling into his eyes.

"Why?" His voice shakes, and his eyes flit around the room, searching for answers that neither of us truly has.

"I…I don't know." My voice trembles just like his, and I feel worse than I ever have.

"You don't know? You don't know? So what, Piper, you have no reason for dumping me? That's just great." Jason isn't supposed to be this way. He isn't supposed to be so...broken.

"Jason, I love you, but-"

"Oh, so you love me now? That's news to me!" He laughs, but there's no humor in his voice.

"Yes, and you know that! I just… I just can't be with you!"

"But why, Pipes? Why?" His voice goes soft, a drastic change.

"You want to know why? You really want to know?" A tear slides down my cheek, but I leave it there.

"Yes I want to know! That's what I've been saying all along!"

"Fine," I pause, not wanting to hurt him anymore. But didn't he deserve the truth? Didn't everyone? "I was the girl you thought you wanted. And you were the boy I thought I had."
