The Case - Part Two
It was a dark and stormy night and Horatio Cane stood outside in the rain. He was on the case, but a store across the way was distracting him. Large neon letters proclaimed "Fresh Local Pork!" Horatio had always loved pork. He studied the body on the ground. Nobody else was around, maybe he could sneak off for a few minutes to buy some of the succulent meat.
All of a sudden, Horatio heard footsteps behind him. He turned slowly and saw a tall man standing on the sidewalk, holding a large black leather briefcase.
Horatio slid his sunglasses off his face, in a smooth move he had perfected at the age of five; to ensure his cool, tough persona.
"Horatio Cane," He announced in his smooth voice.
The stranger didn't answer. His face twisted into an unusual expression and he knelt over the dead body lying sprawled and disfigured on the ground.
"Hello my beauties," The man said to a jar he pulled from the briefcase. Horatio peered around to catch a glimpse of what was in the jar. It looked like a multitude of bugs, but he couldn't be sure which kind, because he had slipped his sunglasses back on after the introduction. Horatio hoped they weren't bugs. Horatio had never been afraid of anything. That is, anything except bugs. Ever since he was a small child, and found his mother eating worms at his kitchen table, he had been terrified of all slimey, creepy crawly insects.
"Do you know what these are?" The grey haired man asked.
Horatio shook his head, "I can't see anything, because I'm wearing sunglasses, just let me take them off again. Wait a second," He replied. A shiver ran through his body. What was going on? What was the man planning on doing?
"No," The stranger replied. His voice filled with ominous tones, "Let me tell you what these are. These are brown recluse spiders. This type has one of the most deadly bites in the world."
With those words he unscrewed the cap of the jar and shook it. The spiders flew onto Horatio, and began scuttling over him. He jumped and swatted his hands at the spiders, screaming for help and praying for God. He cried for his parents, but it was obvious nobody was coming to help. Every one of the one hundred and fifty brown recluse spiders bit him, and as he screamed in pain, he fell to the ground beside the bleeding victim.
"Why?" He choked out.
"Because you stole my woman," The Spider Man replied simply, "I saw you making moves on Catherine, and she's mine!"
In a horrifying moment, Horatio realized that the man must be Gil Grissom. He remembered Catherine Willows from the Las Vegas Crime Lab, and the steamy night of passion they'd had.
He had arrived early in Las Vegas, ready for some gambling and strippers. But when his eyes landed on the blonde bombshell in the Lab, he had to introduce himself.
"Horatio Cane," He announced as he slipped his sunglasses off.
"Catherine Willows," She replied cooly.
Out of the corner of his eye, Horatio could see the grey haired supervisor glaring his way.
Though he knew the two were obviously together, Horatio ignored it and seduced Catherine that night. They enjoyed four rounds of passionate love-making before Grissom came over and Horatio had to hide in the closet.
When he finally came out of the closet, Catherine was gone, and Horatio never saw her again. But he never forgot that night.
He lay on the ground, jerking and crying as wave after wave of painful convulsions overtook him. He heard the jar hit the ground beside him, and Grissom's footsteps retreat into the night. The rain poured down upon Horatio's face, and his last thought was of the glory that would come when Calliegh Ducane hunted down the perpetrater, using her sexual manipulation.
The End...or is it?
