Invigoration
Chapter One: Lilacs
His deep blue eyes followed her every move. His gaze traveled up her body, pausing at her long, exposed legs, her curvy hips, and her nearly full breasts. Her body was filling out real nice. And it didn't escape the attention of the male who was currently watching her. Hungrily, he licked his lips, and wished with all his might that he would be given the chance to delve into her soft skin, lightly scratching her with his sharp claws. To kiss her deeply with every inch of his tongue. To scream his name to the canopy of the trees. How he longed to do this, how he dreamt about it, how he wanted that damn hanyou out of the way so he could make it so. He wanted Kagome to be his, and he planned to do whatever it took to ensure it. The other demons in his pack continually asked him why he wanted the human so bad, and every time the question arose, he gave the same answer.
Not only was the miko the most beautiful thing he's ever seen, she also has an iron will. Despite the mortal danger she is incessantly put in, she never seems rattled or afraid. She always has her head up high, ready to fight until the end. And even when it looks like the odds are against her, she always comes out victorious, her dashing smile on her face and her bow in hand. He always gave them this answer, and everytime they heard it, the follow-up question was always asked:
"Have you ever seen her fight?"
His eyes would narrow. "It doesn't matter. How else would she be surviving all these battles? Demons are always attacking her and her friends, if she didn't help fight them off, she'd be dead by now. Right?"
His pack would mumble in agreement, not completely convinced by his logic. In fact, doubt began to rise about her individual ability, but no wolf was going to go against Kouga. He was the alpha male, and to go against him would be the equivalent of asking for death in the most unceremoniously of ways. And no one wanted that, so Kouga was right. As usual.
Even now, his pack's questioning of his choice bothered him as he sat in the brush, watching his treasure. He gaped as he saw one of her creamy legs lift and swing over the seat of her two-wheeled mobile device. As she pedaled away following her friends, he was tempted to tail them, but decided against it to return to his den. But before he left, he gave her one last sweeping look, and then he was gone.
"Argh, he makes me so mad!" Kagome said, shaking her fists in anger. The water splashed around her as she vented her frustration. "He's such a bone-head. He doesn't understand anything!"
Sango nodded along with her, briefly dipping under the water to wet her hair. "But are you really surprised? I mean, he's not the smartest demon around."
"But still! I'm asking him to do anything difficult, I just want him to try to be a little more sensitive. He's just so... unrefined."
The demon slayer ran her fingers through her long ebony locks. "But isn't that what drew you to him to begin with? His raw emotion and intensity?"
Kagome dropped her angry face and paused in her thoughts. She realized that Sango was right. That was what drew her to him in the first place. She admired his strength and how he used his unchanneled emotions to rule what he does. He always follows his heart, and that was why she found him irresistible. But remembering her anger, she shot back, "that doesn't matter! He can still try! That's all I ask of him, and I don't see why he can't even attempt to not be so... him!"
Sango pulled her dripping hair over one shoulder and continued to brush through it. She settled her hard eyes on her friend. She decided to tell Kagome what she needed to hear. "There is something you have to understand. You cannot change Inuyasha. That is the way he is, and he will always be that way. Now, apparently he was good enough for you when you two first got together. But you can't get some idea of the perfect male in your head and expect Inuyasha to conform to it. It's not fair for him, and he won't do it. That is why you are butting heads to much. Either accept him for who he is, or leave him alone."
The younger girl stared open-mouthed at her. She couldn't believe what she heard. Once again, Sango was absolutely right! Covering her face with her wet hands, Kagome sighed into them. How could she have been so unfair? She had to apologize to Inuyasha. Right now.
Standing up and stepping out of the water, Sango's eyes widened. "Kagome, I'm sorry about what I said. Maybe that was too harsh."
"No, you're right," Kagome said, quickly drying off and pulling on her clothes. "I need to talk to him right now. What you said made me realize that I was being too hard on him. I love him, and I'm going to make sure he knows so."
Sango smiled at her, and waved a hand at her retreating form. "Yeah! Let him know how you feel!"
She watched her leave, but she wasn't the only one. A few feet away, a blushing wolf got an eyeful too. He wasn't quite aware of what was happening until Kagome got out of the water... and he saw everything. Dripping. His face burned an awful red, and turned away. He rustled a few bushes in his attempt to keep her body hidden from his eyes, but luckily the females didn't hear him. He felt terrible, seeing her naked skin without her permission. But it was too late.
He was going to leave and go home, but something told him to stay. He couldn't understand why since his treasure had left the scene, but he continued to watch the remaining girl. He had seen her a few times before with a cat demon, but as he went through his memory banks, he realized that he didn't know her name. But why would he? Kagome was the only reason why he'd ever seen this girl before. As far as he knew of her, she was a demon slayer. He never saw her kill anything, but he was pretty sure that was her story. He kept watching her brush her hair with her back to him, and he got a nice look at the scars marring her otherwise smooth skin. He began to wonder how she got those scars, what demons was she fighting? Did they stab or slice her? How long ago did it happen? He had many questions about those scars, and when he thought further about it, he noticed that he couldn't ask Kagome about any of those things; she had no scars. All over her skin was beautiful; no scratch or scab anywhere. Maybe that was why she was so beautiful.
His attention grew as the demon slayer moved about in the water, eventually turning around to face him, her body hidden from him. The water dipped low enough to expose the tops of her breasts, full and unmarked. His stare intensified, entranced by her movements. The towel in her hand moved over her arms and hands, back behind her neck, and across her chest while her audience was enjoying the show. The smell of lilac floated around her, and he had to admit, he always did like the smell of lilac.
As he looked at her, almost unashamedly now, his hand started to venture lower, ultimately finding its place beneath his loin cloth. Slowly, his hand began to stroke his growing member as he watched her bathe. He found a sudden need to jump into the water and take her. Immediately. But he settled for his current place in the brush, knowing that if he did, there would be no chance with Kagome. That seemed to be the only thing keeping him away from her. Lucky him.
His stroking came more insistent, letting him know that he needed a release. Soon. So as quietly as he could, he rose to his feet, but still kept close to the ground. He crept from the brush and took off. As he ran, he growled low in the back of his throat. How could he desire the nameless woman more than Kagome? How could his body react that way when he didn't see her naked? He took in a good look of the miko's body, and yet, it did nothing for him. Why?
"Damnit," he mumbled to himself, veering to his right. "It was probably that lilac smell." His explanation seemed to satisfy him for the while, but he knew in the back of his mind that while he relieved himself, he would be thinking of the demon slayer.
Damn lilacs.
AN: Alright Kouga, deny it if you want, but it won't get you anywhere. Okay, that's all for this chapter. Review if you want. Chapter Two is coming.
