Joe Fontana thought his heart was going to stop.

He had arrived at Elizabeth Rodgers' apartment to pick her up for their date and now stood in the doorway, eyes wide, mouth agape.

"Don't look so shocked, Joseph." Smirking, she took hold of his wrist and pulled him inside.

"You look…unbelievable." He watched as she fastened her earrings, letting his eyes slowly wander over her. The black dress that she wore stopped just above her knees and hugged every curve of her body. The green heels accentuated her long, amazing legs, and matched the jewels hanging from her ears. The combination of colors--black and green--were just right for her fair skin and red hair.

He couldn't stop staring, a fact which didn't go unnoticed by Liz. "Are you gonna be able to pay attention to the opera tonight?" she asked, a hint of laughter in her voice.

"I don't know." His eyes stopped at the neckline of her dress which perfectly displayed the rounded swell of the top of her bust. "Maybe we shouldn't go out tonight." He snapped his eyes to hers and grinned, his hands reaching for her.

"Oh no. You promised me this night out weeks ago, Joseph Fontana, and I plan to hold you to it."

Joe had always loved Liz's red hair--redheads had forever been his weakness. Green was his favorite color, especially on Liz. And a little black dress looked good on any woman; but this one seemed made for Liz's body. His hands fell to her waist and he pulled her slender form against him. "Let's just stay in." His eyes had gone dark, his voice deep and rough. "I promise to make it worth your while."

Liz laughed as she placed a hand to his chest. "We will have plenty of time for that--after the opera." Quickly kissing him, she removed herself from his arms and sashayed toward the door. From the coat rack, she grabbed a green satin evening coat and slipped into it. Picking up her clutch, she turned back to him. "Well, Joseph, let's go."

He shook his head as they left. The colors of Liz Rodgers would be his undoing.
