Sara stepped into the garage and walked toward her SUV. She was beat, it had been a long shift. The garage seemed deathly quiet tonight. She had been talking on the phone with Grissom as she got into her car. "Okay, what about the D.N.A. sample found at Hendersen?" She knew he was thinking of what to say after a few moments. "Just get some sleep Sara, you need it badly. Did you take your jacket I think you might have left it in my office?"
But he heard no answer. Just nothing. Just quiet silence. After about a minute he wondered if he hung up on her, but he didn't. Still silence. Now Grissom was worried. He decided to go and check for himself. On the way to the garage he saw Jim Brass, his closest friend. "Hey Jim I need your help I think Sara might be in trouble. Can you help me?" Brass walked toward him quickly. "Is she okay?"
Grissom sighed. "Please, follow me to the garage." Brass looked over at his uneasy friend. "Sure no problem. You know I'm here." Grissom smiled at him as they walked toward the garage.
When they reached the garage they looked around for Sara's car. Finally Brass said "Over there. Looks it seems empty. Around this time the garage is always buzzin with people." They slowly walked to Sara's car. Brass drew his gun. Grissom shot him a worried look. Brass shrugged and whispered, "Never can tell." Then Grissom heard a bang. It sounded like someone get hit against a car.
Cautiously they followed the sound of the noise. When the reached the car, a man jumped out holding Sara at gunpoint. Jim raised his gun. Grissom gasped. Sara struggled and tried not to move. Grissom was surprised at she looked 'used to this sort of thing' But he could see the fear in her eyes. His Sara was in trouble. Then Jim spoke. "Why don't you put her down Josh."
Grissom looked at Jim "You know this punk?" Brass nodded. "Why should I, she put me away for two years?" Jim thought for a minute. Then Grissom chipped in, "She was doing her job. She never meant to do anything to you. Never Josh. It was her job. Please, let her go." Sara heard the plead in his voice; the hopeless love he left in his last comment hit her like a brick. She felt guilt now to know he really does care for her and how she treated him.
"Give me another reason Mr. Grissom." He motioned with the gun to her head. "Please no one wants to get hurt here Josh." Jim pleaded, "Just let go of her." Grissom looked at him "She's innocent." The man looked at Sara. "We all are in some way." Jim looked over at Grissom suspiciously, and then figured out what Gil was trying to do. He was going to trick him. "Even you. We'll forget this every happened if you let her go and give me the gun."
Josh eyed Grissom "Fine, I trust you. Here" He handed Jim the gun. Then he let go of Sara who fell into Grissom's arms. Jim walked off with Josh, "Let's get you some help Josh." Grissom sighed deeply. She was holding on to him and was close to his body. He could feel her shaking. He pulse was slowing down. "Hey you're okay, I have you."
To Sara his words were like soft music. She looked up into his watery blue eyes. "Seriously, Sara I thought I lost you." Sara smiled. Grissom helped Sara up. Then, he pulled her into in to a hug. "Sara…." She was almost worried by the change in his voice. "Yes."
"Is it too late?" Sara pulled away a little. "For what?" Grissom took in a deep breath "For us…" Sara smiled and a single tear came down her cheek. "It's never too late." Sara rested on Gil's shoulder "Thank you. You're always good with your timing." Grissom lightly laughed and put his hand on her cheek "Are you okay?" Sara smiled "Now I am."
