Arthur tiptoed across the room. He looked down at his feet to make sure he didn't step on anything that would cause him to trip or make a noise. He was so going to scare Merlin out of his wits and get payback for what his boyfriend did to him.

He slipped through the bedroom door, closed it softly, and padded over to the desk where Merlin had vanished to, to work on his latest novel. The young, wirily haired, pale man hoped to have it out by summer which was only a month or two away to please his fans.

Arthur crouched, ready to leap on the man, but caught himself just in time before he did something really stupid. Merlin, the funny, cute, sweet person who Arthur had meet through a book club a year or two ago, was sleeping on his laptop and snoring slightly.

Arthur sighed, pulled the swivel chair back, lifted Merlin into his arms and carried him to the bed. He picked up the quilt from the chest at the end of the bed and placed it over him. Arthur brushed his hair back and bent down and kissed his check softly.

Oh, well, maybe next time, he thought, as he let himself fall next to Merlin and pulled him to him. Merlin snuggled against him and sighed. A nap would be a nice thing right now anyway.
