Blood Moon
Prologue
Red. That was the colour of that fateful night. Blood red. That day was the first of its kind in centuries, for a blood moon has not been seen for over five hundred years. A deep wail pierced the eerie silence, for what should have been a joyful occasion. During that night, a child was born. Usually, in the peaceful village of Circla in the western Earth kingdom, the birth of a child was celebrated with happiness and parties that lasted through the night, but that night was different. Whispers came from the village, saying the child born that day was cursed, for his eyes took an eerie crimson glow as soon as he started to wail. The wail of the child chilled the bones of all those that the sound ravaged.
After the blood moon retreated from the world, many people argued about the 'Blood Child' as they called him. The village was torn into conflict over the child; some people said that the child must be executed, because he is an abomination and a danger to them all. Others said that he must be cast out of the village, for it will endanger them if he stayed. His parents were torn. That is something no child should endure. His mother says that he must be executed, for she did not want to be known to have birthed a cursed child. His father wants him to be exiled, for although he is cursed, he is still their son.
For twelve years, the village disputed. For twelve years, his farther managed to keep him safe. But on the eve of his thirteenth birthday, he was exiled. Many had been relived when he was exiled, but many were scared. For many had known about the curse of the blood moon. When he was told about his exiled, there was nothing he could do, for he let his rage take over. That was the last mistake the village ever made, for the village was destroyed in a ravenous fury. Ice spikes soared in every direction, piercing through stone and flesh, whilst the ground itself shook. After the rage subsided all you could hear was a child's cries, soft whimpers that came from the centre of the destruction…
Meanwhile, far in the deep tundra of the southern Water tribe, a girl, no older than nine years old, skipped around the snowy plains, playing in the snow. A tall, stern figure stood watch over the young girl that skipped around in the snow.
"Katara!" Hakoda called out in a loud bellow, so his daughter could hear.
The girl stopped skipping and quickly turned to her farther
"Yes daddy?" the girl responded, coming to an abrupt stop in front of a massive clump of ice
"Please be careful around the ice!" Hakoda warned "It seems unstable!"
Just then, as Katara was about to respond, the ice started to shatter, and Katara ran to the safety of her farther, she ran as fast as her legs could carry her. As soon as she got to the safety and comfort of her father's side, she stopped and turned around to look at what startled her. As she stared carefully into the newly revealed ice, she gasped and shouted to her farther
"Dad, there is someone in the ice!"
Hey guys, this is my first attempt at writing fanfiction after spending a long time reading various stories. As this is my first story, I expect there are several mistakes littered around the story itself. I would much appreciate if you guys could mention any mistakes to me and leave a review if you enjoyed the start of this story :)
