Okay, my first Charlie Bone story. Please be nice. I find these books almost as addictive as the Harry Potter series. Show me some love. This takes place after the second book, but 3 years later. That makes the kids about 14 or 15. I am in the midst of reading the 3rd book and will add more detail later. Sorry if there are any confusions with characters.

Disclaimer: I do not own the characters or any of the events. Jenny Nimmo created them, and I am just a fan.

(I will not go into detail about the Red King. Sorry, but there is a lot of information on him that would take to long to write about. Please pick up a copy of Charlie Bone to learn about the Red King.)

Charlie was walking out of his dormitory and on the way to breakfast with Fidelio. Charlie had been going to Bloor's Academy for nearly 5 years now. His best friend, Benjamin, didn't go to Bloor's. He was one of the most normal kids you could ever meet. Fidelio and Charlie are both in the Music Department. Fidelio can play several instruments and is very talented. Charlie can play piano, the trumpet, and recorder. He's not very good at them, so you may ask why is he going to Bloor's then? Ah, but he is one of the few students who is endowed. He has a strange talent that most people would want to have, but Charlie wishes he had never had it. Charlie can hear what people are saying in pictures and portraits. Sometimes he can enter them and talk to the person. There are only a small group of endowed students who attend Bloor's and they are all descended for The Red King. Please see note above.

"What do you think Olivia's hair will look like today?" Fidelio asked with concern.

Charlie thought why his friend was asking about Olivia. Fidelio mostly thought that Olivia was kind of annoying, but useful at times. "Why?"

"She's always changing it. That's why." Fidelio shook his head as if he were a little annoyed as to why Charlie asked that. So what if he wanted to know about Olivia's hair. It was always changing. She had a sense of humor, too. Charlie was more serious at times.

"Hey guys." Emma Tolly bounced up to the boys. Emma was once Emilia Moon, but then she woke up from a long hypnotizing she was put under by the Bloor family since age 2. She is endowed and can fly. She lives with her aunt Julia Ingledew in an apartment within Ingledew's Bookshop. She is a best friend with Olivia. Emma is in the Art Department and is also a very talented artist.

"Hey. What's up?" Charlie asked.

"Just heading off to breakfast. I suppose you guys are too?" Charlie and Fidelio both nodded. "Have you seen Olivia?"

"I bet Fidelio has." Charlie said with a bit of a smirk.

"I only asked about her hair!" Fidelio threw his hands in the air and walked over to Gabriel Silk, another endowed student. Gabriel could feel people's feelings and past threw their clothes. He is in the Music Department. He is fairly good at piano.

"What's up with Fidelio and Olivia?" Emma asked with an eyebrow rising.

Charlie shrugged. "He's been asking about her lately."

Emma stopped Charlie from walking. "Uh-oh."

"What?

"I'm not sure but I think that this means Fidelio has a crush on Olivia."

"That's jumping to conclusions. He might have just wanted to know what wacky color Olivia's hair is this week."

Emma now raised both of her eyebrows. "You were just teasing him and now you're standing up to him? I don't understand you sometimes, Charlie Bone. I'll ask Olivia at break. You ask Fidelio more questions. See you later."

Charlie continued to walk to breakfast and he reached the cafeteria. He didn't know how he'd ask Fidelio without him getting mad at Charlie.

Sorry if this is short. I just wanted to start it out. Tell me what you think of it!
