I began packing furiously. I couldn't wait to get back home! Cookies, egg nog, presents, joy, family, Christmas was my favorite holiday. My room mate, Beth, put down her headphones.
"Seriously, T, you need to calm yourself." she put a hand on my shoulder. "It's just going back home for two weeks."
"I'm sorry, I'm just super exited!" I shouted. Beth peered into the suitcase.
"How many hideous Christmas sweaters do you need?" she demanded.
"All of them." I mumbled quietly. After I finished packing, I hugged Beth as hard as I could. "I'll call you as soon as I'm out of King's Head!" We said our teary goodbyes in the parking lot, and I got into my car. As soon as I did, my phone was blowing up. The caller ID said it was my mom.
"Hey Mom." I greeted. When I was younger, I used to call my mother by her first name, Linda, so she'd let me sit at the adult table. Now that I was an actual adult, it seemed silly.
"How's my little Tiny Tina?" Mom asked.
"I'm good, just headed to the ferry." I started my car. "How are you?" I asked back.
"I'm great! I have a surprise for everyone when you-Gene, those are not real cookies! Sweetie, they are props! LOUISE DO NOT-I have to go sweetie, can't wait to see you!-Okay now mommy's going to kick some ass if you don't-" the line cut off. Tina rolled her eyes. This was going to be one weird holiday.
