The Human Touch
Notes: Rogue is a little OOC (out of character), but I like her that way. This is set after X-Men 2, and Rogue has broken up with Bobby. Jean is around, you'll find out how later. Incorporates some character aspects from X-Men: Original Series and X-Men: Evolution.

Chapter 1: Meditation, chicken, and ice cream.
She was in a meadow. The grass was soft beneath her, still slightly damp from the morning dew. The breeze felt cool against her bare arms and face. She could hear birds singing in the distance, and a stream trickling nearby. There was a sweet smell around her, like roses and vanilla. She inhaled, exhaled. Maybe the answers would come to her here.
"Rogue!"
Her paradise vanished. Maybe not. Rogue reluctantly opened her eyes. Crouched down in front of her was Logan.
"Hey kid."
Rogue gave him a half smile in response. Slowly she became aware of her surroundings. She was sitting in the lotus position under a large oak tree at the edge of the mansion's grounds. She was wearing black sweatpants and a long sleeved tee, with black sneakers and her usual gloves.
Logan was still bent down in front of her.
"It's getting late. Evenings are cold now. You comin' in?" he asked.
"Uh, yeah." Rogue shook her head to clear the thoughts.
Logan got up and stretched out his hand to Rogue. She took it and he pulled her up. Logan sniffed the air.
"Dinner's ready. Smells like chicken."
"Well then, why are we still out here?" asked Rogue with a grin. "Let's go!"
Logan turned to her with a strange smile on his face. "Race you!"
"Okay…" said Rogue, grinning wickedly, "go!"
She raced away, leaving Logan slightly stunned.
"She wants to play dirty? Fine." Logan ran. Fast. He soon caught up with Rogue. And tackled her. He rolled his body so rather than crushing her, he cushioned her.
"Oof!" All the air was squashed out of Rogue's body as she landed on Logan. She tried to get up, but Logan's arm was holding her firmly across her middle. She could fell the hardness of his chest pressed against her back.
Logan chuckled, and the sound reverberated through Rogue's body.
"Okay, okay! You got me. I surrender," said Rogue, putting her hands up (or sideways, depending on your point of view).
Logan didn't let go. Rogue squirmed.
"Lemme go! I'm hungry!"
Still he held on.
"If you don't let me go I'll-"
"You'll what?" Logan cut her off.
"Umm…"
"I'm waitin'."
Rogue stopped wriggling. A slow, smug smile crept onto her face.
"I'll tell Storm what really happened to her double chocolate ice cream."
Logan paled. "You wouldn't."
"Try me."
Storm had been pre-menstrual. Logan hadn't noticed the label on the Haagan Dazs tub - "Storm's property. Do not touch." - in elegant handwriting. He had just put the container in the trash and left the kitchen when Storm entered. Apparently the lightning outside had been pretty impressive.
Reluctantly, Logan released Rogue.
"Thank you," she said primly, dusting herself off. Logan scrambled to his feet.
"This doesn't mean you won, you know," he said.
"There's always next time," replied Rogue, running in before he could respond. Logan stood there for a second, smiled to himself, and went inside.
More to come!
