A/N: Yes…I know…it's rather short. And it's written in the present tense. I usually like the past tense, but my verbs would not cooperate with me today. Hopefully it's still okay.

Disclaimer: I claim no ownership of L, Light or anything else in here.

It is a rare moment when L and Light get to spend time alone without Sayu or Mrs. Yagami visiting Light or Watari bringing another difficult case for L to solve. But they are finally alone, snuggled up in bed together. But even now, L can't keep his mind from wandering.

"I do not wish for Light-kun to take this the wrong way," L begins.

Oh boy, here we go again, Light thinks wryly.

"I only wish Light-kun were more romantic sometimes," L says wistfully.

Light grumbles to himself and eyes L tiredly. "More romantic? I cooked dinner for you last night. Much more romantic than take-out."

"But you didn't make dessert for me," L says in a sad voice.

"Okay, tomorrow I'll cook you dinner and dessert. Happy now?"

"Just dessert will suffice," L says cheerfully.

"Okay, what do you want?"

"Cake," L say excitedly, practically drooling.

"With plenty of frosting and strawberries on top. I know you too well," Light mutters.

L squeals in delight and tightly clutches the sheets. He has a faraway look in his eyes, already fantasizing about the cake. Light is almost afraid L will start chewing on the sheets.

"Ryuuzaki?" Light asks worriedly.

L suddenly snaps back to the present with a determined look. "And Light-kun must provide romantic music to set the mood."

Light asks cautiously. "And exactly what do you consider romantic music? Piano? Violin?"

"Hmmn…I cannot recall the name of the song," L muses. "It was something like, 'Sugar, sugar…you are my candy girl'."

Light groans. "First thing, Ryuuzaki, I am not a girl. Second thing-"

"Oh, I have another one," L says excitedly. "'Candy on the beach, there's nothing better. But I like candy when it's wrapped in a sweater. Some day soon I'll make you mine. Then I'll have candy all the time'."

"Trust you and your sweet tooth to pick something like that," Light growls. "How can you call that romantic?"

"But it is romantic," L says cheerfully. "Candy is very romantic. For instance, people often give chocolates to their beloved on Valentine's Day or anniversaries or-"

"I don't want to hear it," Light snaps. "All you talk about is candy and cake and pie and any other sweet food you can imagine. I'm sick of it. For once, can you be considerate and talk about something else besides how much you want to eat sugar?"

"Would Light-kun prefer that I bake him a cake instead?" L asks in a small voice.

"Lawliet," Light whines in frustration. He has known L's real name for years, but he usually refrains from using it, just so no one else can hear it and use it against L.

L's eyes widen in surprise. "Light-kun," he whispers. "I believe it is the first time that you have actually used my name."

Light sighs. "Look, I'm sorry. I just lost my temper."

"Do not be sorry," L says soothingly. "It is the sweetest thing I have ever heard Light-kun say." He strokes Light's cheek with one hand and his expression turns mischievous. "I have forgotten how pleasurable it is to hear one's own name. I shall make sure that Light-kun screams it for me later."

Oh boy, here we go again, Light thinks happily.
