Leliana watched as her best friend scribbled away at the papers on her desk. It seemed like there was always work to be done around Skyhold and she decided that it was time that they had a break.
"Josie!" She said.
"What is it Leliana." Josephine snapped. "I have a lot of paperwork to do."
"Well," Leliana said, "you don't have to get all snippy."
"I'm sorry." Josephine said. "I'm just a bit stressed."
"I noticed. That's why we need a little time off." Leliana told her.
"I can't." Josephine protested. "I have too much work to do."
"It can wait until we get back." She said.
"But-"
"No 'buts'!" Leliana interrupted. "I already arranged a trip to Orlais and had the servants pack our things."
"There's no talking you out of this, is there?" Josephine asked.
"No."
And so it was that Ambassador Josephine Montilyet was forced against her will to Val Royeaux by Spymaster Leliana.
A few days after arriving to the city the two women found themselves sitting in a small café sipping tea and eating tiny, orlesian cakes.
"See," Leliana said, "aren't you glad we came?"
"Yes Leliana." Josephine said. "You were right."
"I usually am."
"So where should we go next?" Asked Josephine.
"I know! Let's go shopping!" Leliana exclaimed.
"Oh, yes." Josephine said. "We should buy souvenirs."
The friends spent the next few hours shopping at various stores and bought gifts for all their friends, including a dirty book that Sera requested.
They were walking down a path when one store in particular Leliana's attention.
"Look!" She happily exclaimed, pointing at the store excitedly. "Shoes!"
"You already have a ton of shoes back at Skyhold." Josephine said. "Do you really need more?"
"Of course I do." Leliana stated. "You can never have enough shoes."
Before Josephine could say another word her friend had dashed into the store. She followed and watched her as she ran around excitedly trying on every single pair of shoes in the store. Leliana reminded her of a kid in a candy store.
"I just can't decide which pair to buy." Leliana muttered.
"I thought the purple ones looked cute on you." Josephine told her.
"Of course they're cute." Leliana said. "Orlesians always make the best shoes. Maybe I should buy the ones with the ribbons, or the sparkly ones, or the ones with the little pom-poms, or the-"
"Could you please just chose a pair?" Josephine pleaded.
"I'll have to buy them all." Leliana decided.
"But there are hundreds of them!" Exclaimed Josephine.
"Well, you can never have to many shoes!" Leliana said happily.
"Leliana you cannot buy all of these shoes." Josephine told her.
"But I need them!" Argued Leliana.
"No you don't." Said Josephine.
"But Josie," Leliana said, "They're all so adorable!"
"Maybe we can come to a compromise." Josephine suggested.
After an hour of arguing Leliana agreed to buy only half the shoes in the store and refuse to settle for less, much to Josephine's dismay. They paid for all of the very expensive shoes and left before the shoe obsessed spymaster could change her mind.
"Now we only have enough sovereigns left for the trip home." Josephine said.
"Aw, can't we please stay a few more days?" Begged Leliana.
"No." Josephine answered. "We can't afford it."
"Oh, Okay." Leliana said sadly.
The women paid two wagons to take them home, one for them and one for all of the shoes. Leliana spend the ride daydreaming about all the shoes she couldn't buy and Josephine learned a very important lesson.
Never go shoe shopping with Leliana.
