"Charlie!" Boone calls out as he moves across the beach with a battered leather bag. "I found your suitcase!"

Charlie looks up, his eyes glistening in the mid-afternoon sun. "Thanks, man," he says with a sigh.

"You okay?" Boone drops down beside him.

Blue eyes meet blue eyes for only a moment before Charlie looks away, his gaze pulled to the roaring sea. "No."

"Anything I can do?" Boone asks with sincerity and even a little tenderness. He lays his hand on Charlie's knee. "Just let me know, okay?"

Charlie nods, but continues to stare out at the endless sea.
